Chapter 8

Getting a few hours of sleep, Kristen managed to get herself up, got dressed and headed out the door into Fairstone.

Walking through the doors of McDonald's, Kristen spotted the girl in the far corner. She had noticed that the girl had already ordered. Kristen was a bit hungry herself, so making her way over to the counter, she ordered a meal for herself.

Setting her food across from the girl, "I'm glad you showed." Kristen smiled warmly as she sat down across from her.

The girl froze as fear started creep up.

"You don't have to be afraid of me." Kristen tried to assure her. "All I want to do is talk. I'm Kristen AshKey."

"Emily Clarkson." Her voice was soft as she quickly brought her drink up.

"My dad didn't want me to talk to you without him but he is always gone, he works a lot. So I'm here to tell you that we're sorry." she started rambling.

"When we moved here, we didn't know this was anyone's territory until we took a run. He is going to talk to your Alpha when he had the time so please tell him we didn't mean any disrespect. Please." Emily was close to tears.

There was so much coming off her, "Just relax. Trust me. The Alpha would understand if you explain it to me." she looked at her. "So tell me. How long have you and your dad lived here?"

Emily looked down, "About a month or so." her voice was low.

Surprised an a bit frustrated, Kristen stayed calm as there must be a really good reason for not coming and finding her.

"What does your dad do?" Kristen asked as she took a bit of her food.

"He's a pilot. So he leaves close to a week at a time, depending on where they need him to go. He's only home for a few days a month." Emily fear was replaced with sadness.

Wanting to change the subject, Emily had noticed the gun on Kristen's side.

"So, you are a police officer?" Emily asked.

Chuckling, "No. I may do some of the same things but I'm more then that. I'm a Government Agent in the Tri-Stone county."

Kristen could sence that Emily was a half breed which meant one of her parents must be a human. It also meant that she was aging like a human until she reaches an age where her werewolf half will pick up. It is different for everyone.

Wanting to know a little about her, Kristen asked, "So you told me that your dad's a pilot. What about your mother. Where does she work at?"

Sadness overwhelmed the girl, "My mom past away when I was just a baby." Taking a sip of her drink. "It's just been me and my dad."

"I'm sorry to hear that." Kristen voice was soft and soothing.

"It gets hard at times when you want to talk about girl things with your mom." Emily took another sip.

Concern hit Kristen, "So who stays with you when your dad is at work?"

Not sure on what to say, Emily sighed, "I stay by myself. I've never been afraid to stay by myself until yesterday when I found out that there are Silver Blood Hunters live here too."

"Well that makes two of us." Kristen was concern about that too.

Seeing the fear replace the sadness in Emily's poster, Kristen stated, "Why don't we do this. Why don't you gather up a few things from your house and you are welcome to stay with me until your dad gets home."
