Olivia awakes the next morning with a massive headache. It was exhausting for her, trying to avoid Spencer all night. She left pretty early, and Kia offered her a ride home. Not wanting to engage further in her wallow of fury and conflicting emotions, she decided to head to the town and grab a few supplies for the office. She felt lucky that most of the town members is at church and she can come and leave undetected.
Or not.
"Oh, my Lord, Olivia!" some woman shrieks as she exits her car.
"That you?" Olivia turns to see one of her high school girlfriends.
"Chante Hansley!" Olivia pulls her in for a hug.
"You look great!" Her honey-blonde hair hung to the middle of her back, while she's overly skinny. Olivia always knew her to be very stunning, but she's just beautiful now.
"Appreciate it" She fixed her shirt.
"Girl I been singing up in Houston, so lookin like this helps the gigs come in if you know what I mean" She says with an wink to her eye.
"I'm not surprised, girl you could sing your ass off when we were kids"
Every play, chorus, even church, she would sing for as long as Olivia could remember from back then. Chante's mom and Laura are close friends, but not as close as Laura is with Spencer's mom. To be fair, if you're the same age in this town, your close friends by default.
Chante shrugged. "Guess I can't stop, it's always been my niche"
The women start to walk down the sidewalk.
"That's really good, Te. I'm glad you found what your passionate about and what you love"
"Thanks boo" She beamed. "How bout you? What in holy hell are you doing back in Dallas?"
Oh, you know, trying to stay above water, not go crazy in the process. Same oh same oh.
"Things happened, guess it was time for a change. Next subject. Please.
"Oh, okay that's great, happy for you! Oh, my damn!" Chante's voice and tone grows dramatic.
"You seen Spencer?" Her eyes alight with wonder and true curiosity.
"He's gotten so much finer, granted he's tied down the town harlot, but" She sighed from that statement.
"You're back now though sooo..."
Ahh hell! Not her too. Me being back means what? He's got an girl. I have my boys and miserable life without their father. Nothing more to be said.
"Hey, did I tell you that the twins are almost eleven now?" Olivia throws her off the topic. Chante stopped standing in front of Olivia.
"Really?! Awwww, nice try, Olivia Baker. You're not bout to answer an question with an question missy. That don't work over here and you know it" Olivia huffed deciding to give her an small piece of information.
"We did...run into each other, at the bar, and he was with Layla. It was an hi and bye kind of thing"
Only answer the question being asked, Liv. How does anyone even try to get away with anything here? Laura Baker could've been an detective the way she writes information. One minute your thinking they asking one thing, when it really means the other.
An impressed smirk falls across her lips. "Did you feel the sparks and chemistry?"
"Can we not do that right now?" Olivia beseechs her.
"Sorry girl, it's been a really long day and I haven't had my first dose of caffeine yet"
And I'm tired of people bringing him up. It makes me think about him, and I don't want to. He's shown up enough in the back of my subconsciousness, I can't handle if he shows up in my reality.
