-Eighteen Months Later-
"Are you finished yet?" Kia shouted from downstairs.
"I would be if you weren't making me dig through boxes!" Olivia yelled back at her friend. Spencer and her started construction on the house they're building by the river six months ago. The twins fell in love with the land and instantly asked when they could move there. Thankfully that was only two weeks away, and Olivia couldn't be more relieved to be out of her parents house. They've been helpful in getting her back on her feet and she was grateful for their assistance in getting her to a manageable place. Since she didn't have to pay rent or expenses, it's made it easier for her to make payments to them. Nina was back in town visiting, excited to see the progress on the house since the twins have been constantly sending her videos and pictures of it.
"Put a pep in your step woman we don't have all day!" Nina yelped. Olivia rolled her eyes as she smoothed out her dress. Olivia got pushed into riding on Kia's float for the town parade. Her father was the fire chief, and he insisted on the float. The caveat to this just leveled up the tension between her and Darnell. Olivia headed downstairs, searching for the box that carried her boots.
"Ooo you look cute!" Kia smiled graciously.
"Thanks, all I could find in such short notice" She laughed while slightly throwing shade of the timing.
"Well, it works" Nina shrugged.
"Where are the twins?" Olivia eye's searched around the room.
"They're with the grandparents" Kia expresses.
"Yeah, and we need to go"
As the trio approached the center of town, Olivia already started to see people lining up in the streets. She loved how the town would shut down over these kinds of events. It gave her a solid reminder that this wasn't just a community, it was a family. Nina groaned each time someone stopped them to give a quick hello, which also meant she's been like this the entire time. More minutes pass before they reach the staging area where the floats were.
"This town needs a Xanax"
"More like you do" Olivia was amused by her friend's discomfort.
"Hi, Angel" Dillon comes around the corner, wrapping his arm around Nina from behind. She peeled his arms away as she turned, pointing a finger to his face.
"So help me Lord. I don't know what is wrong with you, but we are not-ever-going there again"
"Again?" Olivia choked on her breath as she was completely caught off guard by this admission.
"When did you the first time?"
"Irrelevant" Nina shakes her head ignoring her friend's comment. She turns around facing Dillon again.
"You can go now" Olivia's face plastered into a smirk as her eyes went between the both of them. Two of her best friends getting together, that's something she never saw coming. Nina turned around as she shot her a challenging glare.
"Olivia! We gotta go" Kia hurried her friend into action.
"Yes, Olivia, you have somewhere to be, wouldn't want to keep you" Nina's brows raised. Olivia didn't take the bait as she waved her finger at her.
"Oh were so not done with this conversation"
"Ya'll are killing me slowly come on!" Kia complained, pulling Olivia to the staging spot. Once Kia fussed for an few more minutes and got everything situated, Olivia found herself drawn to her boys. They were on Darnell's boat, standing with their chests puffed out, fisted hands on their hips.
