"Just when we thought all was working out for them. We didn't even have time to make them a back together cake" Mrs. Pat's voice filtered through the hallway.

"Bless her heart, she must be an emotional wreck"

"She hasn't left her bed yet" Laura lets it be known. Moments later, Olivia enters in the kitchen which had been filled with food and arrangement of baked goods. Nina sat at the table, digging in herself while writing things down.

"What is all this?" She croaked.

"Good morning sunshine" Nina chirped. Olivia looked over at the four other women in the kitchen, accompanying her. Mrs. Pat, Laura, Mrs. James, and her fourth-grade teacher, Mrs. Lana.

"Oh, honey" Mrs. Pat said with her lips pouty.

"I'm so sorry about you and Spencer" Olivia looked at her with wide eyes.

"What? How in the hell?"

"We heard all about what your fight was about" Her hand settled on Liv's arm.

"You must be devastated"

"Completely ruined, I mean she looks it" Mrs. Lana commented. She rubbed her eyes, hoping it would cover the eye roll she had on display. Mrs. James stepped forward.

"You'll always be like a daughter to me"

"Thanks, I think" Olivia shook her head.

"We're fine though, I mean we'll be fine, just need to talk" they talk as if she's not there.

"Do you think she'll find another man at her age?" Mrs. Lana questioned.

"She's still pretty and hasn't gained too many extra pounds-"

"I'm right here" Olivia reminded them.

"Spencer looked terrible last night" Mrs. James sighed while turning back to her friends.

"I was happy they'd finally found their way back"

"We didn't even get to enjoy their reunion before they screwed it up" Laura adds on.

"I tell you, that girl has always been too smart for her own good"

"I heard she kept some big secret from him"

"Hello!" Olivia became fed up. "I can hear you!" Mrs. Pat looked over Olivia then back to her small meeting.

"He wasn't Mr. Perfect either though, Grace. I mean that boy of yours needed a good ass whupping from time to time" Nina shrugged unapologetically continuing to stuff her face as Olivia glanced over at her.

"I need to hire all these baking goddesses" Pieces of cake fell from her mouth.

"You need a trough" Olivia plopped down in the chair next to her.

"Have you tried this?" Nina shoved the fork in her face.

"Eat this, it's orgasmic worthy" She took a bite of Mrs. James chocolate cake. She'd know it anywhere. It tasted like heaven.

"This is why I bake"

"This would be why I would be a thousand pounds" Nina admits while popping another forkful in her mouth.

"Goodness" She moaned.

"I could die a happy woman in this sugary heaven" Olivia leaned back, trying very hard not to listen to what they had been saying. According to them, Spencer never returned home last night. Olivia slept with her phone in her hand, praying he'd call. She had also gone to the river, but he wasn't there. She felt off balance.

Olivia: Please tell me you're okay. I want to talk sooner rather than later.

"You'll be diabetic if you stay here" Olivia laughs through her words. Nina ate while she waited on the phone to ring.

"Olivia" Laura took her attention from the phone.

"The town wants to do something nice for you" she smiled at her friends.

"For why?"

"Well," Mrs. Pat walked over.

"Your breakup of course. No woman should go through being heart-broken at your age"

"Were not broken up, we have plans to talk"

"Really?" Laura asked.

"Then why did Grace rush over here to tell me that she saw Layla moving boxes back into his place" Her heart dropped to the ground.

"Mrs. James" Her voice cracked.

"Are you sure?"

"I'm sorry hun" Her gaze fell to the floor.

"I asked her what the hell she was doing, but she said Spencer would be letting me know soon enough. I didn't see him, but it was clear she was hauling her stuff back in" She released a sigh through her nose.

"I have half a mind to throw him off my land"

"How?" Olivia managed to mutter.

"I mean, there has to be a mistake" Grace rubbed her back.

"I wish it was"

She wasn't going to sit back this time. He couldn't tell her all the things he's told her about how he's here for her, that he loves her, wanted to build a house, and then go to Layla's after their first fight. This wasn't possible, he wanted an day, and she wanted an life.

Extra but shorter chapter cuz I love ya'll! longer chapter coming after this! Let me know your thoughts. These women are something else, is Layla and Spencer making an comeback? Few more chapters left everyone, hold on to your seats! Happy Sunday ♥️
