*Firehouse 51: Apparatus Floor*

Engine 51, Truck 81, Squad 3, Ambulance 61, Battalion 25. . .

(A/N Couldn't hear the rest of the call over the Stellaride moment but I think we all know where they're going at this point. 😂)

Chief was about to hop in his SUV when Assistant Deputy Commissioner Jerry Gorsch appeared to his right.

"Sounds like a big one." He commented. "I'll ride with you."

Chief kept a scowl on his face despite the urge to look smug as Gorsch rounded the red vehicle. He opened the Passenger's side door and was shocked to find a small, brunette, woman, dressed in a captain's uniform, already sitting there.

"Sorry, this spot's taken." She smiled, feigning a guilty expression.

It seemed Gorsch was dumber than Chief had given him credit for cause he bought it, easily.

"It's alright, ma'am." He assured, throwing a glare at the other man. "It appears there are more firefighters here than Boden led me to believe."

Chief watched him storm back into the Firehouse before hopping inside his car and shutting the door.

"Thanks, Ana." He smirked, looking over at her with warm eyes as they began driving towards their destination.

"If he's anything like you say he is, then I don't want him anywhere near you." The brunette replied before continuing in a soft mutter. "At least not while I'm around."

The smirk widened into a smile that lasted the entirety of the drive there. After Deputy District Chief Carl Grissom became the Fire Commissioner, he sent Gorsch to keep an eye on 51 and the little rat was really getting on his nerves. It seemed every action or word out of the Assistant Deputy's mouth was said or done purely to get under Chief's skin. It took a lot to push him over the edge though and now that Ana was here, it would be damn near impossible.

The man was suddenly broken out of his thoughts as they approached an apartment building with smoke billowing out from one of the top floors. The two hopped out the second Chief stopped the car and they immediately began barking out orders. Despite the fact that Matt was the same rank as Ana now, even he still saw her as his superior. In the rare moments where the brunette actually used her position as a captain, she seemed more like a second chief than anything else.

"51, get me a water supply from the standpipe." The older man ordered.

"Truck 81, Squad 3, we need search teams." Ana commanded.

"Engine 37, get the hoses into the north stairwell." Chief instructed.

"Ambulance 61, set up triage." The brunette yelled out over all the noise.

"Get ready, people." The older man urged as everyone marched towards the building's entrance. "We're Going to War."

Chief and Ana were the first ones inside followed by Matt and 81 with Kelly and Squad 3 taking up the rear. The second they stepped through the doors a man, who the brunette assumed was the building manager, ran over to them.

"Fire's on the 20th floor." He informed.

"How many units on each floor?" Matt inquired.

"12." The manager replied.
