The Untold Romance

Chapter 20.

"Nurse Lisse, you need to check the patient at room 506," utos ng isang doktor sa kanya.

"Yes, Doctor!" She just came back from her regular rounds nang makatanggap siya ng tawag from the attending physician. She stood up, took the medical charts, and left.

"Hey," siniko ng isang kasamahang nurse si Moei, "don't you think something is up with Nurse Lisse?" They were talking in Thai.

"Why?" Pagtataka ni Moei.

"She had been taking night shifts for two weeks straight now plus assisting multiple surgeries, and I know she's busy with her master's classes too, right? She's intentionally trying to reach her demise by working beyond her limitations," mahabang paliwanag ng nurse.

Unknown to them ay nasa likod na pala nila si Marcus, "what are you two talking about?"

The two jumped off their seats when they heard Marcus' voice kaya walang nakasagot sa tanong ng binata. Dahil nagsasalita sila ng Thai ay bigla silang nabunutan ng tinik dahil alam nilang hindi ito naintindihan ng doktor.

"They're gossiping about Nurse Lisse, Dr. Lustre," another nurse just appeared out of the blue na nakarinig pala ng pag-uusap nilang dalawa.

"Ohh, and what about her?" Biglang nagkainteres si Marcus.

"Nothing, Dr.," they throw a killing stare at the nurse who revealed their conversation.

Hindi ito pinansin ng nurse at patuloy na tinranslate ang usapan. Moei tried to stop him but hindi kinaya ng powers ni Moei. "They said Nurse Lisse seems like committing suicide because she's been overworking for two straight weeks now."

Marcus was busy with his job at the university kaya madalang siyang naglagi sa hospital ng dalawang linggo. He didn't have any idea what was going on with Ev dahil sa tuwing tinatanong niya ito ay laging okay lang ang sagot. And now that he's back, ay na'reveal sa kanya ang totoong nangyayari sa kaibigan.

"Where is she right now?" He asked the nurses with authority at halatang may halong galit ito.

"She's doing her rounds at the 5th floor, Dr," malumanay na sagot ni Moei because she sensed his anger.

He walked away and headed to the 5th floor.

Ev was walking down the 5th floor lobby as her visit with the patient just finished. Binati niya ang isang kasamahang nurse na tutok na tutok sa TV, "hey, what are you looking at?" Tanong niya dito and she looked at the TV too upang makita ang pinapanuod ng tutok na tutok na kasamahan.

"P'Bank," bulong ng kasama niya. She looked back at her co-worker and looked back at the TV again. Ini-interview ang binata as part of his promotion sa pelikula nito. They were talking in Thai kaya wala siyang naiintndihan sa mga sinasabi ng mga ito. She just stared at him.

Since they met again here in Thailand, she gradually witnessed his celebrity status and his socialite world. She tried not to mind it but now that things are turning on a different path, she knew that their two different worlds rotating on their different orbital paths intersect at some point called the present but are now slowly separating away from each other as they continue to move forward spinning towards their designated futures.

"Here's a question from an international fan, which I believe all of your fans around the world are dying to know as well: is there a special someone in your heart right now?" The interviewer read the question in English kaya't naintindihan ito ni Ev.

She saw Bank paused for a while, then he confidently smiled, and shook his head, "the only special thing in my heart now is my career," he answered without any hesitations.
