𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐍𝐄𝐗𝐓 morning, I woke early, the rays of warm sunlight covering my face as I stretched. Shaking my chestnut hair out of it's bun that I had tied last night, I got up off of my position on the floor.

I looked over at Lila, her honey blonde colored hair covering part of her face. I shook her shoulder gently, "Lils, wake up."

The first time, she groaned and swatted my hand away. Scowling, I shook her shoulder, rougher this time, "Wake up."

"Alright, alright," she complained, as she covered her face with a pillow. A small sigh escaped my mouth as I watched her lie in bed. I tossed on my clothes for the day, a white tee, black hoodie and some black jeans.

Making my way to the kitchen, I almost screamed when I saw Diego just casually making breakfast in our apartment, "What the fuck?"

Diego turned at the sound of my voice, "Oh, you're awake! I made breakfast for the both of you. Watch your language as well."

I stared at him dumbfoundedly, "How did you get in-"

"Through the window," he gestured to the open window and I glanced between him and the window, trying to force my morning brain to comprehend everything that was happening.

"What's going on here?" Lila yawned as she walks into the kitchen.

Pausing mid yawn, she looked at Diego, "How did he get in here?"

I gestured towards the window wordlessly, still trying to make the connections as to how he climbed up and managed to open the window. Lila turned to the window and looked at Diego, "Wait, you got in through the window?"

Diego shrugged like it's no big feat and he does it everyday. He set the stack of pancakes that he had been cooking, on the table and drizzled it in syrup. Lila pulled out the chair closest to her and plopped down on her seat, putting some pancakes onto her plate.

Too tired to keep thinking about what had just happened, I took a seat as well and started eating the pancakes.

*****

Pausing mid-bite of my second pancake, I turned to Diego, "Did you poison these?"

Lila immediately froze, her fork halfway to her mouth already. Diego looked hurt for a second before shaking his head, "I didn't. By the way, the DNA test results came back."

I started blinking at him hard, "Sorry, I think my ears are deceiving me."

Lila continued on, "Did you just say DNA test results?"

"When did we have a DNA test?" I retorted back at him.

Diego seemed to realize that he fucked up, and scrambled to break the news to us lightly, "Uh yes. I got some samples and got them tested with the rest of the family's."

I shook my head, my senses starting to kick in. I placed my fork on my plate, and stared him dead in the eyes, "The rest of the family's? I was hoping you meant just Marco, please do not tell me that we have more than two siblings."

An apologetic look settled into Diego's eyes as he broke the news to us, "Actually, I'm the second eldest. You have five brothers in total."

Shaking my head, I pushed my chair back from the table, "No. No, no."

"Wait, did you say Marco? As in, our father? Have you met him already?" Diego fired questions left and right.

I stood up and grabbed my keys from the counter and slammed the door on my way out of the apartment. I heard light footsteps following behind me and I yelled behind me, "Stop following me."

I heard the footsteps stop and I kept walking forward, exiting the building, and striding over to my car.

*****

I brushed my sweaty hair out of my face, looking down at the guy I had just knocked out. I had done about five rounds, completing them all with ease, only earning a punch or two.

One of the guys had managed to land a pretty hard punch on my stomach and I was sure that was going to cause a bruise.

I climbed out of the ring, walking over to Leo and grabbing the drink of water in his hand, downing it within five seconds. Leo looked at me in concern, "I think you should take a break."

I smiled at him, "Yeah, I was just about to."

"You did well kid. Go collect your earnings," he told me.

I walked over and grabbed my earnings from the fights I had. Leo ruffled my hair as I came back over. Swatting his hand away, I let out a laugh, "Stop it Leo."

"What's going on here? Get your hands away from my sister," a voice bellowed from behind me.

All activity in the club had stopped and all eyes were on us. I froze, I was so screwed. Leo looked angry, and stepped in front of me, "Who are you?"

I almost face-palmed at his stupidity. Did Diego just not say I was his sister? Are my ears deceiving me again?

"Her brother, who are you?" Diego retorted, oblivious to all the eyes on us.

"I'm her friend. I will now kindly ask you to leave sir," Leo replied calmly.

Diego scoffed, "I'm the son of the owner of this place, I'll have you know. I could fire you in an instant."

Was Diego kidding me right now? I decided it was time I stepped in, so I got in between both of them, "You guys, calm down. I'm going to be leaving now Leo, take care. Come on Diego, you're causing a scene."

I grabbed Diego's hand and attempted to drag him away from staring Leo down. I saw Leo smirk and I internally groaned as he called out to my retreating figure, "See you later firecracker!"

Diego turned around instantly and I punched him in the gut, "No, we're leaving now."

He tried to protest, however, I managed to push him out of the doors. He turned to me incredulously, "How did you even find this place? Wait, how did you get in?"

I ignored him, "What were you thinking! How on earth did you find me as well?"

"Lila told me where you worked after I went out searching for you. I decided to go check if you were there."

Cursing Lila inside my head, I turned my phone on, scrolling through my contacts, finding the number I needed, I pressed the call button.

Marco's voice filtered through the phone, "Akira? What's wrong?"

"Can you take your idiot of a son back to where he came from? He's annoying the hell out of me," I complained.

Marco laughed, bringing a small smile to my face, "I don't know what he's doing, but I sure didn't send him there to annoy you. Diego, why are you not doing what I told you to do?"

"He can't hear you," I told Marco.

"Of course," Marco chuckled, before saying goodbye to me and hanging up. I sighed, "Let's go Diego."

We drove back to the apartment in silence, Diego occasionally glancing over at me. When we got inside the apartment, I tossed my keys onto the counter and walked over to the bathroom, grabbing some painkiller for my now throbbing leg.

Downing two painkillers with some water, I heard a ringing coming from my pocket in my jeans. Pulling out my phone, I checked the ID. Placing my phone against my ear, I answered, "What's up?"

"I've got some very interesting information on the person you asked me to investigate..."
