"𝐇𝐔𝐑𝐑𝐘 𝐔𝐏!"
"Fuck you, I need to look good-"
"You don't have to take so long-"
"Victor, tell them to shut up please."
I could hear Cameron begging from downstairs as I eyed the outfit lying on my bed distastefully. The days had flown by quickly and it was time for this function. I had tried to talk to Lila to apologize but was rewarded with frostiness. Only recently, had I managed to get her to acknowledge me and accept an apology. Small steps I suppose.
With a grimace, I held the dress up, before putting it on. I peered into the mirror and gave my hair a quick brush before glancing at my phone at a text that Blaize had sent me. Blaize and I had gotten to know each other better over the past few days, and I have to admit, he was alright. Although he seemed interested in me, I couldn't reciprocate those feelings. I read his text, a frown appearing on my face.
Blaize: red or black.
Blaize: I'll meet you there.
Another text followed from Alexei.
Alexei: something white or purple will do
I grumbled under my breath, why did they all have to have different colours for showing loyalty? I quickly put a pearl necklace on and some ruby earrings. Spraying some perfume on, I shoved my shoes on and strapped my daggers to my thigh.
A knock sounded on my door, and I yelled for them to come in.
To my surprise, Lila entered the room, dressed, and prepared, "Are you ready? Our dresses are a pair, and they won't understand that until they see us together."
"Yeah, I'm good. Let's go," I grabbed my phone, following her out of the room.
As we descended the stairs, our brothers had stopped squabbling and were now looking at us with adoration in their eyes. Dad had a proud look on his face as we stopped in front of him, "You both look stunning. Shall we go now?"
Everyone voiced their confirmation, and we were off to the ball.

I stood outside of the building with my family, looking up at it in awe. No one else was around, so I assumed we had come late. I hadn't received another text from Blaize but had one from Alexei asking me if I was here yet.
Our brothers and father started up the steps, confident in their strides, whilst Lila and I walked behind them, hurrying to catch up.
Once we were at the doors, Dad turned to us, "Hold your head high. You are the Romano's. Be proud."
With those words, he turned and flung the doors open, stepping into the blinding light which greeted us. My hand was clasped in Lila's, and she squeezed it lightly, no words spoken between us, yet I knew what she was saying. It was going to be alright. We were going to be alright.
We wore almost identical dresses, though I had fought with all my might not to wear one. I was clad in a black gauzy dress, whilst Lila was dressed in an ivory white one. The skirt fell almost to our ankles, and I shifted uncomfortably. This was most definitely not practical in an escape. One thing that I was vaguely happy about were the boots I was wearing. They were plain black and reached my knees. Whilst I wore boots, Lila had opted for some strappy white heels, her neck and ears adorned with pearls.
We walked through the room with confidence, the lights reflecting off chandeliers and our jewelry. People turned to stare, raising their glasses at us, until we reached a table with our names on place cards around it. I found my seat beside Lila and Cameron, and crossed my legs, wondering where Blaize was.
