"𝐀𝐑𝐄 𝐘𝐎𝐔 okay?"

I brushed the dust off my clothing, wincing slightly. Ignoring his question I demanded, "How the hell did you find me?"

The boy in front of me helped me up, a hand hovering over my shoulder hesitantly as he debated whether to touch me or not. Instead, he settled for giving my shoulder a light pat. I ignored him, my gaze meeting the eyes of the others who were behind him. My eyes met each one of theirs slowly as I repeated my question once more.

"We weren't due to leave until tomorrow, and we heard shouts down the alleyway," the light brown haired boy mumbled as I glared at him.

"Then how do you explain this?" I hissed venomously, as I retrieved the fallen dagger from the floor, shoving it into his chest. "Did you think I wouldn't know?"

"I swear it's not what it looks like," the dark brown haired man stated calmly.

I laughed sarcastically. "You're joking right? I.M? Italian Mafia? R, as in Romano?"

"Let me just fucking talk alright," Victor snapped, as my eyes widened in surprise.

My brothers made way for Victor as he stalked over to me, fury in his eyes. Cameron sent me a pitying look, which I disregarded. Pity. That was something I truly did hate.

The others shuffled back, as I drawled slowly to cover my fear, "Would you get on with it already? I'm in dire need of a bandage, and maybe a doctor."

"You are clearly not safe to live by yourself or with whoever you've gone to see, just come back home. Our mafia has many enemies, and we can protect you," Victor explained to me. "You were just attacked-"

"No shit sherlock," I muttered under my breath. I spoke a little louder the second time. "What makes you think I can't protect myself?"

"You were almost killed!" Diego exploded.

"I'm still standing, aren't I?" I retorted.

"Barely," scoffed Cameron. "You could have died if we didn't step in!"

I rubbed my temples in frustration. "Because of you idiots trying to set your little mafia henchmen on me! So, if we think this out logically, this is still all your fault, so no, I don't think I'll be going back with you."

Something sharp connected with my cheek, and my head snapped to the side. Eyes wide in shock, my hand touched my quickly swelling jaw, before I looked at my eldest brother before me whose own expression mirrored mine.

"Are you crazy? No, forget I asked that. Clearly you are." My hands balled into fists as I seethed.

"I didn't mean to," Victor whispered remorse laced in his words, as his hand rose to meet my face before I slapped back down. "Don't touch me."

I shoved my way past my brothers, anger curdling within my stomach like sour milk. My brothers watched me leave, faces emotionless. If it wasn't clear who they were loyal to before, it was to me now.

At this point, I didn't care if they saw where I was camping out anymore, they had found me again. My friends were right. I had acted foolishly. I cursed myself inside my head, why hadn't I checked before I left the other night?

Fucking stupid was what I was.

Some renowned assassin I was. What had my life come to?

In a dazed stupor, I pushed open the door to the house absentmindedly with one goal in mind. I had to clean myself up before anyone saw. Maybe take a nap too. Preferably in that order.

As I stumbled past the living room I heard someone gasp. "Holy shit, I'd ask if you're alright but you're clearly not."

I managed to make my way to the bathroom, throwing open all the cupboard doors searching for some alcohol and bandages. Alexis followed me into the room, her eyes assessing me, "You have to tell the others."
