𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐎𝐋𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐁𝐀𝐂𝐊 into the kitchen, I could feel the painkillers kicking in. Diego had left to who knows where, and Lila had gone out with some friends. How I knew? She had texted me during one of my fights and I had read it after I had finished.
Thoughts were spinning through my head as I tried to process all the information I had just been told. We couldn't and wouldn't be safe here. Biting my lip, I considered the options.
Scrolling through my phone contacts once again, I pressed Marco's name guiltily. Marco picked up on the first ring, "Hello?"
Fiddling with the ring I kept on my middle finger, I answered, "Hey, Marco. Sorry to bother you again, but is it okay if Lila and I can move in as soon as possible? I don't really think we're safe where we're living right now..."
Marco seemed a little puzzled as he replied, "Uh, of course. Does this coming Monday sound alright to you? Diego will be coming with you as well."
I honestly didn't feel like going with Diego, however, I agreed, "Sure."
Hanging up, I decided to go see Charlie. Walking up the several flights of stairs, I made my way to his apartment, which had the title 'Landlord' on it. Hesitantly, I knocked on the door, "Charlie?"
The door opened and Charlie's head peered out from within his apartment, "Melo- sorry, I meant Akira, how may I help you?"
I gave him a lazy smile, "Thank you for your hospitable services, however, my sister and I will be leaving in two days time, I just wanted to let you know. I will be returning the key where I got it from, and I will leave the rent in the place where I left the keys as well."
Charlie looked forlorn, "What a shame, that's okay. I hope you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for letting me know Akira."
I gave him a mock salute, "Bye Charlie."
He gave me a wave and I walked back to the apartment, the only sound echoing down the concrete corridor was my shoes.

Two days later, I held our bags in my hands as Lila locked the apartment giddily.
"Can you believe it? We're going to be living with our brothers, reunited!" she gushed.
A small sigh left my lips, that was all she could talk about for the past hour and I was honestly sick of hearing it. I had cooled off after the Diego situation, however, I still didn't exactly want to talk to him.
Lila gave me a frown as she took our bags from me, handing me the key, "I'll be waiting in the car Akira."
I gave her a nod, "Sure."
Walking over to the room where I had gotten the key, I pulled out my wallet, checking to make sure I paid Charlie the exact amount he needed. Taking the money out of my wallet, I placed the key where I found it and left the money under it.
Turning around, I went to walk out of the door, when Charlie leapt in front of me, swinging something held in his hands.
A soft cry left my lips as the world suddenly plunged into darkness.
*****
Groaning, I went to move my hands, only, I found that I couldn't. My eyes shot up in shock as I took in my surroundings. I was in a dark room with no windows and it looked like there were four figures standing to my right.
"Who are you?" I called out into the darkness.
Charlie stepped out of the shadows, "Hello there Akira."
Two other figures emerged from behind him. Uncle Harvey smiled at me cruelly, "I hate doing this to you Akira, but-"
I cut him off with a snarl, "Liar."
Aunt Jemine discretely shook her head at me. Confused, I ignored her. Uncle Harvey grabbed my chine roughly, bringing his face closer to mine, "Don't interrupt me little girl."
I spat in his face, "Don't call me that."
As I opened my mouth to speak again, I was cut off as my head turned to its side. I toppled over in my chair, groaning as my cheek started to throb, and my head starting to hurt from hitting it on the floor.
I raised my head to meet my Uncle's cruel and heartless eyes as he spoke, "Learn your place."
He then turned on his heel stalking out of the room. Aunt Jemine hung back for a split second, before scurrying after Uncle Harvey. Charlie gave me a 'tut' before nodding to the person who hadn't come out of the shadows yet.
"Do as you please," he said, before leaving the room.
A pit of dread settled in the bottom of my stomach as the words left Charlie's lips. A guy came out from the shadows and my eyes bulged from their sockets, "You!"
"You!" he mocked me, "Looks like you're getting what you deserve, Akira."
*****
I coughed out blood from the position I lay in on the floor, half conscious. I knew it was a bad idea, but I let my mouth control me, "Ha, Blade, more like blunt blade. That was nothing, considering I knocked you out in what, two minutes?"
A fire burned in his eyes and I cursed my stupid mouth. Blade stepped closer towards me and kicked me hard. A gasp left my lips and I scrunched my eyes up from the pain. He then grabbed my hair and pulled my limp body from it's position on the floor, "I'm just toying with you, if you wanted to get knocked out, why didn't you say so before?"
The last thing I saw was a fist heading right towards my jaw before the world turned dark.
*****
How unfortunate was that lol.
I apologize for this chapter if it seems weird, I kind of lost motivation at the start as I had writers block and basically zero time at all. Short chap heh.
