𝐖𝐄 𝐖𝐄𝐑𝐄 losing.

Bodies were littered along the floor, and most of the other guests had run away to safety. The only ones that remained seemed to be gang and mafia leaders. They were mercilessly knocking down the enemies like dolls, yet they still outnumbered us.

Victor's face was grim, whilst he conversed with Phoenix intently, Diego and Cameron covering them. Dad had pulled out his gun and was aiming it at anyone who got too close to us.

As I knocked someone out, my eyes caught sight of a familiar brown-haired boy, and my heart sunk in my chest. His emerald eyes met mine as his dagger tore through someone, his face devoid of emotion.

I turned my head, closing my eyes for the briefest second, opening them just in time to watch a knife spin towards Alexei.

"Alexei!" I screamed, sprinting for him, watching as the knife hurtled towards his back.

With reflex speed, he caught it, before hurling it back where it came. With a scornful look at me he said drily, "Do you really think I cannot stop something like that?"

His face went pale, before he staggered against the wall, his hand reaching up to grasp the hilt of the knife embedded in him. His eyes met mine, a look of desperation in them, "A- akira."

I rushed over to him as he crumpled, "Alexei- Hold on. I can fix this. I will fix this."

He winced as I touched the area where he was stabbed, "It's too late for me. I may not know anatomy very well, but I can tell it has hit something vital."

I held my tears at bay, as I brushed his hair out of his face, "Oh Alexei you stupid, stupid man. Why did you have to try and play the hero? Why did you stay back?"

Phoenix dropped beside me, his hand grabbing Alexei's, monitoring his pulse, "I saw what happened. Are you okay Akira?"

"I'm fine," I responded dismissively, glancing down at Alexei, who had sweat covering his face, laboured breaths escaping him, "Will he be okay?"

Phoenix looked up at me, his face set in a taut line, "I'm not sure."

Alexei moved his other hand to grab mine, "Look after my daughter. She needs you."

A howl of anguish interrupted what I was going to say, and I twisted around to find Victor holding someone in his arms. Phoenix looked up, his white shirt stained crimson, lines of exhaustion painted on his face, "Go. I've got Alexei."

I ran over to see what was wrong, halting in my tracks as soon as I saw who he was holding.

"Dad," Victor sobbed, cradling dad's chest to his body gently, "How- I don't understand. I need you. We need you."

His body remained listless, and I knelt down beside Victor, "Victor, I'm sorry, but we have to go. We have to look after each other. The rest of our siblings are probably worried sick."

When Victor remained on the floor, I took a step back, sending a look towards Diego and Cameron for them to help me. Diego crouched down, placing a firm hand on Victor's shoulder, whispering something in his ear.

Diego then stood back up, Dad cradled in his arms, before he strode away with Cameron hurrying after him. Victor staggered to his feet, his face now empty as he turned away from me, walking in the opposite direction of where Diego and Cameron had left.

"Victor?" I called out, "Where are you going? The others are back there! What are you- woah!"

Someone swung, catching me off guard. I reeled back clutching my cheek, my eyes smarting. I scanned the area desperately for a sign of Victor, cursing lowly when I couldn't see him. My attacker nicked me on the arm with a knife, and I hissed, the pain returning me back to the current situation.
