𝐏𝐔𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐍 the dark oak colored door, Victor didn't bother checking if we were still behind him. Catching the door with the corner of my toe, Lila and I followed him into his office.
It was larger than I expected, and furnished to suit him from what I could tell so far. A desk sat near the back of the room, bookshelves on either side. Photos hung from the wall or sat on top of the bookshelves.
By the time I had finished casting my eyes around the room, Victor was already seated in his chair.
Pulling out a file from a drawer in his desk, Victor flicked through it, scanning his eyes over it. For minutes, Lila and I stood there awkwardly, waiting for him to finish. If Victor knew we felt uncomfortable, he didn't show it.
Instead, he glanced up from the file, "Please take a seat."
Taking a seat on the chairs, I played with my fingers. Why was he taking so long? Surely there weren't that many words on that file.
After what felt like an eternity, Victor replaced the file back into his drawer, turning to face us. A stoic expression rested on his face and I could sense Lila's discomfort.
Up close, I could see that Victor's hair was not black, but in fact a dark shade of brown. His eyes were a chocolate color and his facial features were almost symmetrical. Remind me as to how we were related again?
Clearing his throat, Victor spoke, his voice echoing, filling every corner of the room, "I called you here to discuss some rules."
Obediently, Lila and I both nodded our heads, waiting for him to continue.
"Don't go out without telling one of your brothers or our father. Don't drink and drive, I will allow you to have alcohol, just not too much. Don't smoke or do drugs, and make sure you attend all classes," he recited the list of the top of his head, making sure to pointedly look at me for the last one.
I gave him an innocent smile, "Shouldn't be hard enough."
Victor smiled politely, "Lila, you may leave, I just need to have a private chat with Akira. Do you remember the way back to your room?"
"Yep," Lila replied, giving me a wave before she left the room.
Once she had left, Victor turned to me, "Akira, I have had a look at your attendance and grades at your previous school, and needless to say, you had poor grades and a lack of attendance. I would like you to try to make an effort to turn up at your new school."
I pulled a face, "Sorry. I didn't turn up at school because I was working for money to support my twin and I."
A brief expression flitted over Victor's face, before it settled into a neutral one. Clearing his throat, Victor spoke again, "Right. Just, get your grades up."
An awkward silence hung upon us as I looked around his office, deliberately looking at anything else other than him.
"You can leave now, Akira," Victor murmured.
Flashing him a short smile, I quickly scurried out, running back in the direction of my room. Well, what I thought was the direction of my room.
When I reached a black door, I pushed it open, and rushed in, closing it behind me hurriedly. When I turned around, I did a double take, who redecorated my room?
The bed was off to the right side of the room, a TV on the left, and black curtains covering the windows. LED lights lined the ceiling and were a dark red colour.
Okay, now I'm jealous. Why does my room not look like this?
I was suddenly shoved against the wall, "Who are you?" a deep voice growled, holding something sharp to my neck.
