"𝐀𝐊𝐈𝐑𝐀."

Shit. I quickly hid my mask, giving him a horrified look, "Don't tell anyone. I mean it. Seriously, do not. Why are you even here?"

He gave me a look and I started begging him, "Please, please, please. Pretty please with two cherries on top, do not tell them. Don't. You have no idea how many problems this will cause."

"Do you know how many problems it will also cause if I don't?" he argued back, a disapproving look on his face.

"Phoenix," I whined in irritation.

He folded his arms across his chest, "You need to explain first and then I'll consider telling your brothers. Tell me everything."

I looked away from him, fiddling with my mask. There was no way I was going to tell him everything. Phoenix eyes dropped down to where I was fiddling with my mask, and he spoke again, "First, show me what you're holding in your hands."

Immediately, I stopped playing with it, my head snapping over to him, "What?"

"You heard me," he replied stoically.

My fingers ran over the grooves of my mask before I sighed heavily. It was a risky gamble (not my mind immediately going to Avery Grambs) to trust him. He seemed to be a close ally to my brothers, not to mention, intimidating as fuck. I pursed my lips, "You tell me why you're here, and I'll explain what I'm doing here."

"Fine, you first," he said simply.

"Okay, someone told me about this club, and I wanted to check it out. I'm not sure if my brothers told you, but I used to go to a fight club run by a friend of mine," I began warily, "I then met Alexei and asked if I could join his club, hence why I'm here about to go fight someone."

"Why do you want to join this club?" Phoenix asked me, "What's your purpose of being here? Alexei doesn't have much to offer. This is a training ground."

"Nix," I grumbled, "Don't interrupt, I was just getting to that part. I want to hone my skills further and train others. Think of this like a part time job. Obviously, I'll have to ask if I can do that, but I think he'll let me."

He nodded his head in satisfaction, "Be careful, this is a dangerous business to be in."

"You think I don't know that?" I mumbled under my breath.

A sharp rap sounded on the door, and Phoenix headed over to answer the door. Whilst he murmured some words to the person at the door, I pulled my mask out from behind my back. It was black, with roses emblazoned on its side, with sparkles near the eyes, my traditional fighting mask. I looked up when Phoenix spoke again, "Do you want me to help you?"

"Do what?" I asked dumbfoundedly.

He gestured towards my hands, which were still bruised, and then tilted his head towards my mask, "The Rose Assassin. Why am I not surprised? Don't worry. My lips are sealed... for now."

Sending him a grateful look, I handed him the bandages for my hand, "Thanks Nix, you can call me Kira."

I took a seat on the nearby bench, watching as he wrapped my hands for me. Once he was done, I clenched my fingers into fists testing out his work. I watched as he picked up the mask beside me, motioning for me to turn around. As he tied the mask for me, he spoke, breaking the silence, "Win this fight, and I'll tell you what I'm doing here."

I frowned, "Seems a little unfair."

He finished tying the knot and I turned around, only to find him holding the door open for me. How on earth did he move so fast? A knowing glint in his eyes indicated to me that he knew what I was thinking. As I passed him, he murmured, "All will be revealed in due time."
