Thursday November 25th
Thanksgiving DayThe room was quiet but loud at the same time. It was dark but yet a light filled it up. Dani stretched out amongst the small coach that sat underneath the window. Her legs dangling off the side, one arm tucked neatly under her back, as of she was laying on it on purpose. Her other arm sweeping the floor perfectly.
Andi was resting on her bed, curled up in a fetal position. Her IV cord stuck in one hand, taped to her hand to be sure it wasn't to fall out on its own. It was quiet in the room with the slight sound of beeping. It was dark in the room, except for the light that shined under the door from the hallway.
Nurse Mario slightly opened the door as they tried to make their entrance less noticeable, not trying to awake the sleeping family. They walked in and accidentally hit the light switch on the wall and the bright lights flickered on. "I said don't wake them!" Lucy, the other nurse said as she stood outside the room.
Dani's eyes quickly opened and she rolled over and onto the floor. Not realizing that the floor was closer to her than at home. "I'm so sorry." Mario said as they stumbled around the room.
"It's fine." Dani replied and stretched. "Just doing your job."Andi on the other hand didn't budge from her sleeping state. Marion quickly took her temperature and looked at her other stats, writing them down on the clipboard they held in their hand.
"Any news?" Dani asked as she officially sat up from the bed.
"Temperature is higher than when we last checked and so is her BP."
"Ok." The mother replied and walked into the bathroom. The nurse wrote everything down and was soon out of the family's way so that they could enjoy the peace and quiet once again. When Dani returned and sat on the small couch once again, she was fully awake and knew that there was a slight chance of falling asleep again.
Even though it was only around 4 in the morning and there was no chance in her wife being awake, the blonde decided to call upon her anyways. The phone rung a total of 3 times before the call went through. Seeing that a black screen appeared, Dani knew that Stefania was still asleep and she had just awakened her from her peace.
"Oh did I wake you?" She asked softly. Hearing the covers shift on the bed and the lamp clicked on, Dani suddenly felt a tingle feeling fall down her spine. Bringing back the memories of their FaceTime nights before they officially started dating.
"No bella. I just put Mason back to bed." Stefania groggily said. "Is everything ok?"
"Yea. Her BP and temperature is still very high though. Is everything ok at home?" She asked hopelessly.
"Umm...yea. For now. We're all probably gonna go out for food today. Just something to do before everyone leaves."
"Dammit. I forgot Stephanie was coming over. Did you tell them what was going on?"
"Yes bella I did."
"Gosh what would I do without you?" She chuckled.
"Lose your marbles."Just then a set of tiny footsteps walked into the room once again. "Mommy!" He cried out. Danielle couldn't see but he reached his arms out to be pulled into the bed. Stefania placed the phone down and grabbed the toddler. He clung onto her as of his life depended on it. "Bambino look." She whispered lightly, placing kissing up on his temple.
He turned towards the phone and the same matching blue orbs he had instantly stopped the waterworks. "Mama!" He cheered. His mood instantly being boosted.
"Hi bubba!"
"Mama me miss you."
"I miss you too."
"When you come home?"
"Whenever sissy gets better."
"When?"
"I don't know bubba."
"Oh ok." He frowned upon. Turning back into Stefania, his face was turned away from the screen but you could hear little sniffles coming from him. Stefania calmly stroked his back and with it his cries got louder. "Bubba it's ok. Sissy's ok. I'm ok. We're gonna be back home soon." Dani interfered.
"I'll call you back once I get him calmed down, my love."
"I love you."
"I love you more." And with it she was gone.
