Samantha and her friend sat in the hall waiting for their parents to arrive. "Sammy has there ever been a hero who was happy?" She gave her a sad look that made Samantha think, Amelia knew that the stories she was told were false. "You can't," Amelia said looking at her hands. "I guess I can't." Samantha looked at Amelia's fidgeting hands. "I know, they never let you be famous and happy," Amelia said. "Are you talking about Robin Williams?" Samantha's question was genuine. And for once Amelia was the one with the wisdom. "But I have a secret for you Amelia," Samantha said and her best friend looked at her. "Tell me," Amelia asked her eyes shining in innocent. "I'll be the first." Samantha smiled at her friend.

They walked down the halls following him for a blood test. The was his only condition, a rather understanding condition, but it lacked. It lacked a certain, well it lacked any other meaning than to see if they were walkers. He wasn't checking to see if they were good people, and that made Samantha wonder what was his plan in the long run. "I don't trust him." She said to Daryl, "Nothing good ever stays good. " Daryl replied in a whisper. "Glad we can agree on one thing, " Samantha said, nothing good lasts. That was true, even more now than ever. "I need to talk to you, when you have a chance." She whispered to him. "Whatever,' he wasn't really sure how to respond to what she said. They were last and when it came to their turn Samantha quickly stepped behind Daryl.

"You afraid of needles?" He asked. "Nope, not at all." She said and pushed him forward. He turned his head and saw her hand rubbing her arm as she stared at the needle in the man's hand. He sat in the seat and let him draw the blood. When it came to her turn she walked slowly to the seat and sat down. He wrapped the rubber string around her arm and just as the needle was about to go in Daryl asked her a question "What's up with you and Sophia?" He asked and as she answered the needle went in and she noticed what Daryl had done. She looked at the needle and looked back up and saw Daryl walking down the hall.

Once she was done she ignored what Daryl had done for her. She was guessing him walking away was telling her he wanted her to ignore it. Her foot taps were quiet on the ground. They all gathered in one room waiting for the results. Samantha sat on the floor near Carl and Sophia. Then suddenly Sophia got up clutching her bunny and sat next to her. Sophia rested her head against Samantha's arm.

It was a moment that caused Samantha such joy. But she held back a smile, a yawn escaped Sophia's mouth. She moved and let Sophia lay her in her lap. She moved her legs straight. "No way she'll be comfortable on those boney legs," Daryl said staring at Sophia getting comfortable.

"My God." He mumbled taking his jacket off and throwing it at Samantha. She put the jacket under Sophia's head. "Thanks," she said softly as to not wake Sophia. "Don't let it go to your head." He said crossing his arms.

She looked up at him her eyes locking with his. But it only lasted a couple of seconds. Sophia turned with her face to Samantha's waist and one of her fingers hooked around the bottom of her shirt. As Daryl looked around the room they waited in his eyes came across Samantha. And he saw as a wide smile slowly take over her features. Her hands slowly raked through Sophia's hair. His eyes scanned her, her smile, her fingers, the way her hair framed her face. A moment to truly see her, he noticed a couple of scars on her arms. They weren't accidental scars. They were around her arms in circles in thick lines.
