A/N: Hey everyone before I begin this chapter I wanted to say, Samantha is based on Octavia from the 100. If you don't know who she is and don't mind spoilers for the show watch the video I added. I did make this and that is my youtube channel. And if you don't mind spoilers I would appreciate it if you could watch it. Thank you, and on with the chapter.

Thank you, and on with the chapter

SAMANTHA WAS UP EARLIER THAN EVERYONE, RICK STILL HADN'T COME BACK. Early in the morning, she headed outside to work on the walker problem. She wanted to help clear out more space so she worked on the walkers they had blocked off. They came to her whether or not they had to step on other walker bodies.

Soon there were only a few left, Beth walked out. She was holding the baby girl, "Do you wanna see her?" Beth questioned drawing Samanthas attention. "Yeah, one second." She put her sword away and headed to the little place they set up to rinse their hands.

She washed off any walker blood from her hands and made sure there was no dirt under her fingernails. "I think they're clean," Beth chuckled. "I just want to be sure," Samantha walked to Beth.

Samantha put her arms out and held the baby. "Aren't you adorable," she smiled down at the baby in her arms. "Are you ready to admit it?" She prayed he wouldn't stay too long. She looked at the baby but could see him in the corner of her eyes. "You went through anger, bargaining, and depression. But you've been stuck in denial for how long?"  She ignored his pestering, she told herself she wasn't in denial.

But she was, she told a lie that had latched onto her and refused to let go. It had changed her memories of the way she saw her friend's death, the way she saw her childhood. "I will always protect you," she whispered to the baby.

She would do everything in her power to keep that promise.

"Can you make that promise?" Beth asked, "All the other times I made that promise I failed, the outside world interfering, the people they knew thinking they could do my job." Samantha knew what she said didn't make too much sense.

"Like with Sophia?" Beth questioned, she studied Samantha as she stared at the baby. The baby seemed to like her. "She got scared and ran, Rick hid her, he didn't want to use his gun. But if I had followed her, if I had the chance to protect her she would be alive. But she isn't." The baby grabbed hold of Samantha's finger and a smile spread across her face at the baby's soft touch.

"I'm very sorry I saw you two, on the farm. I feel very guilty," Beth said. "No need, it wouldn't benefit either of us to do it again. We don't need anything then what we have now, which is being forced to save the other. If one of us died, we would lose our surprise attack." Samantha knew having two people with silent weapons was useful. Although it wouldn't pain her if Daryl so happened to fall on one of her swords impaling himself like Olaf.

"And it won't happen again, no it won't, no it won't," Samantha smiled at the baby, the baby giggling.

Samantha felt the wind blow against her, her hair didn't move though. It had been so long since it was last washed that it had formed into clumps. With her help though, she had separated her hair so that it would get like that, it was less likely her hair would get in her face while fighting.
