ONCE THEY GOT BACK WITH THE WOOD, THE SUN WAS JUST STARTING TO SET. I can take a shift," Samantha suggests to T-Dog. He nodded and hoped down.
Samantha couldn't get a good enough placement on the rocks and stones. She was suddenly pushed into the air by strong hands that held her legs. She sat on the top and looked at who helped her up.
"It was pathetic watching you struggle," Daryl said leaning against the wall, she moved her feet so she didn't hit him in the head. "How considerate of you," She said sarcastically, "American hero." She chuckled before moving so she could lookout. "Here," She looked down and saw a flashlight in his hands.
She grabbed it and turned it on, she didn't bother to thank him. Daryl helped the fire and Carol walked up to him. Samantha watched as Carol spoke, she tried to read her lips but the dim light soiled her plans.
Everyone stood as they heard rustling, Rick pointed so Samantha knew where it was coming from. She used the flashlight to see it, she saw T-Dog raise his gun. "Don't, I got it" She jumped down being careful. She walked slowly towards the noise, she heard everyone argue. She tried to ignore them but when Ricks's voice joined it got harder to be quiet.
She heard the branch snap then heard groaning come from a different place. She decided using her swords was better than the flashlight so she dropped it grabbing her other sword. She didn't want to ask for help although she knew that was a bad idea. She turned in a circle with her swords out.
Daryl and Rick heard a loud thud, they both shared a look, "Samantha."
They both rushed into the woods and Daryl grabbed the flashlight from the floor. He turned it on and saw Samantha, they both did. She had blood covering her face, she had her knees bent ready to attack. The look on her face would cause anyone to fear her, any hope or love that had been in her face was gone.
"Sam?" Rick asked and her face changed immediately the warmth surfacing. "Hey guys, you look like you saw a ghost," She chuckled. "Are you okay?" Rick looked her up and down, Daryl moved the light around and saw a bunch of dead walkers. "Yeah, I'm gonna rinse my face off in the mini waterfall." She walked away, and Rick and Daryl shared a concerning look.
A new fear was instilled in them, a fear of what would happen if she lost something else. No matter how much they would pray it wouldn't help. Everyone still had their primal instincts from cavemen time, just like you couldn't fully domesticate an animal. And they wondered how strong that part of her would be.
Rick and Daryl sat near the fire as they warmed up. "Daryl, could you come here?" Samantha shouted only loud enough for him to hear. He sighed before heading to her, he stood just out of reach of the splash of the water. "Come here you have walker blood, don't want to risk anything," She used her finger to mention he come closer.
"What about my clothes?" He asked, and a smirk took over her lips. "You can take your shirt off if you want, although it's not necessary." He noticed her shirt wasn't too wet so he took the chance.
