SAMANTHA SAW AIDEN RESTING AGAINST A BEATEN-DOWN CAR WITH A SOUR LOOK ON HIS FACE. Knowing he was severely against the idea she approached him hesitantly. "You ready?" She asked and his eyes quickly landed on her. He remained silent ignoring her question.
She looked in the car and realized he had grabbed food for them. She saw a woman who lived in the community and flagged her down. "Hey, could you take this stuff back to the pantry?" The women nodded. Samantha opened the car door and handed the woman everything except two bottles of water and one can of corn. "Thanks," Samantha gave her a friendly smile before approaching Aiden.
"Get in the car," she demanded sliding into the driver's seat. It took a minute but Aiden got in and was ready to pout the whole time. The moment they left Alexandria Samantha shoved her foot against the gas, speeding them down the roads. It took a moment before they left the area he and Nicholas had cleared. The moment they did she came to a stop.
"Wanna continue on foot or continue 'till we run out of gas." Yet Aiden continued to pout. "Okay, fine. Chose or I run us into a tree." Yet once again silence. She started driving and aimed the car for a tree they were quickly approaching. Aiden soon realized she would do it, she would end both their lives without a second thought. "OKAY!" He yelled and the car came to a stop. "Stay in the car. There's a gas station a couple of miles north, we haven't completely emptied it yet."
"Oh, sorry but we used it up on the way to Alexandria. Sucks for us I guess."They drove in quiet until Samantha was sick of Aiden pouting. "Stop being a fucking baby, the only thing that's gonna do it get you killed. No one except us is here if you need help you better hope I'm in the mood to help you." Aiden looked at her.
"Matthew's not the person you think he is," Aiden warned looking back at the road ahead of them. "Oh you've been watching me, I knew I was hot enough to have a stalker just took nearly 30 years." She laughed sparing him a look. "I stop counting, at 25, and all this started at 23." She explained. She knew she wasn't 30 but she also knew that she had no idea what her age was. She knew around the time her birthday was but didn't want to celebrate.
"I doubt that would change anything...whether he's a good person or not. I'm not yet you still got in a car with a psychopath." She shrugged. "What?" Aiden said snapping his head to face her. "I mean, not diagnosed but I'm pretty sure a kill count of 30 is a sign of something, definitely not mental stability." Aiden took her words in and regretted getting in the car even more. It was even more terrifying the light tone in her voice.
"Anyway, we'll eat half the corn tonight the rest tomorrow night and we'll scavenge the next." She said. "I thought-" "Yeah because I never specified how long we would be gone. It'll put some stuff in perspective for your mother. Shit, I forgot to tell Rick." She shrugged before pushing her tongue out of her mouth.
They drove until the car started sputtering and slowly came to a stop. "Okay, I know you brought a gun, did you bring anything else, something quieter?" She asked turning her body to face him. "I'll take the silence as a no." She sighed. "Let's go, the longer we stay in one place the more likely it is something bad will happen." She opened the door and grabbed the bag in the back that held water and corn.
They continued walking down the road and Aiden was quiet. "You know you can talk, if walkers hear us I can handle them."
"Did you know walkers are virtually blind, since from the moment the human dies they start deteriorating. The eyes are first then the ear drums then the sense of smell. That means the oldest of them are pretty easy to evade. Now new ones are a different story. They are relatively strong and if they grab ahold of you, better say your last words. Herds, are a different issue. Its easy to go among them as one of them. Just spread their blood on you, as long as you have no open cuts and you don't digest it you'll live. I'm sure if you skinned them it could work the same way." Samantha wondered what it would be like to skin a walker. But the thought made her nauses.
