The walk was peaceful, quiet; only the sound of their feet on the concrete roads. Trees on either side of them, and leaves scattered on the road ahead from the previous winter. Neither spoke enjoying the silence they got, enjoying the moment of peace. They had finished the corn and both could feel hunger calling to them.
Samantha wondered if Aiden had yet to learn anything. If he had yet to see his ways as wrong. But even then she knew she and him were becoming friends. A weird friendship but one nonetheless. He had yet to see the side of her she was afraid would come out. She feared her dark passenger would invade, and beg for more than she had. And no one she trusted was here.
As they walked Samantha heard screaming, her and Aiden soon shared a look before darting after the voice. When they found who had been screaming a women was being torn to shreds, and she had yet to die. Aiden pulled a walker off her letting Samantha kill it until all walkers were dead.
The women still lived, yet there was no way to save her. Blood covered her body and Samantha kneeled besides the dying women. Her dark skin in contrast with the dark red blood. "I- I don't wanna die."The women cried blood spilling from her mouth as she spoke. "It's okay," the women shook her head her eyes closing as tears streamed down her face. "I don't wanna die, I don't want to." She sobbed.
Samantha's heart hurt for her. She was so clearly scared, and the pain couldn't be helping. "I'm not ready," she whispered her eyes opening to meet Samantha's hazel eyes. "I know, no one is. But I'll help, okay?" Samantha asked. Knowing she didn't have much time the woman nodded. Samantha put her hand over her eyes helping the women only see darkness. "Imagine your in a field, of your favorite flower. And in the field is everyone you missed, everyone you lost, waiting for you. Urging you closer to them, their smiles so wide and genuine you can't help but smile back." Samantha saw the women lips turn into a smile.
"You walk closer and as you get closer you can hear them, their voices as they say how much they missed you. Each of them inching closer to you, wanting to hug you. Then as you get closer, you can see them. That one person that made it difficult to just open your eyes because you remember how they were gone. Their there, with the most loving look." Samantha grabbed her pocket knife from her boot. "They run towards you..." she brings the knife closer to the women head. "And they envelope you in the warmest hug, the most caring hug you've ever experience. And they whispered how much they missed you," Samantha shoved the knife and heard one final breath leave her mouth.
Samantha moved her hand and saw the life leave the woman's deep brown eyes. She closed her eyes grabbing her sword and standing up. "Let's go." She pushed past him walking away as tears fell from her eyes. "Are-" "We should head back." Samantha said stopping Aiden from asking his question about her well-being.
They both heard the sounds of motorcycles and went towards the noise hiding behind the trees. "Get 'em off," one demanded. Two men grabbed a blindfolded man off one of the motorcycles. They dragged the beaten down man in front of all the motorcycles pulling down the blindfold harshly. "Please, let me go," the man begged on his knees looking up at the men in biker jackets. The man who was in charge bitch slapped the man, blood flying from the man's mouth.
"Did I say speak!?" He yelled his voice dominating. Samantha went to move closer when Aiden grabbed her arm stopping her from getting closer. But it was too late the men heard the branch under her foot snap. They all looked toward them. "Come out!" The main man yelled and they both did as he asked. "Watching us are we?" He asked. "Nah, jerking each other off, was so close to finishing." She said sarcastically, rolling her eyes.
"What'd you say?" He asked challenging her. "Oh are you deaf, that must sucks, I'll speak louder. WE WERE-" A strong hand came across her face. Aiden went to lunge when two men grabbed his arms forcing him back. "Damn, that was weak. Do it again, but mean it." He started at her trying to hold back his temper. While they focused on her and Aiden the man they were holding ran, never looking back.
