CARL OPENED THE DOOR "This way," Samantha nodded helping her into the room. It was a boiler room of sorts. Samantha helped her down the stairs, "Hurry, but be quiet." Lori held onto some chains that were hanging from the ceiling. Samantha stood at the top of the stairs her hands slowly going towards her sword handle as the walkers passed the door. The door wouldn't close but as long as she didn't push it, they wouldn't even know.

Samantha rushed down the stairs, "Fuck, um, stress-induced labor. Lori, I don't know what to do." Samantha closed her eyes thinking, she took a couple of deep breaths slowing down. "Okay, Carl I  need you to see if you can find any towels or any clothes." He nodded, before running deeper into the room.

"I'm sorry it's not Maggie here, or Beth, or Hershel." Lori was lowered to the ground with Samantha's help. "Samantha, I trust you." Samantha felt her heart swell at that. "I'm sorry, but could you lift your butt up?" She nodded and Samantha pulled her pants down her legs her underwear coming with it. "If this were under different circumstances I wouldn't be so scared." Lori didn't laugh or chuckle.

"Um, shit, Carl come back." He heard her, "I need your help," He nodded. "Not now but I will," Samantha felt her brain scramble for thoughts anything to help. "I gotta push," Samantha nodded just agreeing with that.

Lori stood up holding onto some equipment. She started to push and was screaming in pain. Samantha tore some of her shirt, "I hate to ask this, but," She just showed her the thing and Lori nodded. Samantha put it in her mouth, she didn't want her to break her teeth, or cause all of them to die.

She looked down and blood dripped onto her fingers in huge drops. "Lori, somethings wrong I need you to stop." But Lori didn't.

That went on for a little while Lori screaming as she pushed until suddenly she stopped. She fell against Samantha. Samantha laid her on the floor as tears started to fall. "Mom? Mom look at me open your eyes." Carl said, and her eyes fluttered open.

"We need to get you to Hershel," Samantha said afraid to touch Lori, "I'm not gonna make it."

"Lori there's a lot of blood, I don't know if your dilated or what that looks like."

"I know what it means and I'm not losing my baby. You have to cut me open," Samantha knew what was happening. She prayed she could remain numb for another 24 hours but she couldn't.

"No, I'm not doing that," Samantha shook her head. "You have to," Carl stood up, "I'll go get help," Lori shut that idea down right away.

"Lori, I have no sterile equipment, no meds. I know nothing about giving birth." Lori looked at Samantha as she rambled. "Carl has a knife." Samantha moved so she was in between Lori's legs. She tried to see past the blood but there was too much. "You won't survive," Samantha forced the words out of her mouth like they were magma. "My baby has to survive," Samantha looked at Lori and at the blood.
