Some people are old at 18 and some are old at 90...time is no concept that humans created.

The feeling of insignificance followed me as I slid off the bar stool. I subconsciously smoothed my dress down and sucked in a deep breath in attempt to calm myself down.
My heart was hammering as I watched Spade lean against the window, his eerily calm eyes dead set on Giovanni as he laughed about something. I was too far away to hear, but the look on Spade's eyes was enough to let me know that it couldn't have been all that funny.
Giovanni and the other men standing with him noticed, too, because all their laughter died down into nervous looking chuckles. It looked like they were trying to be careful with what they said next, and how they acted around him, because Luciano was staring at them as if he was waiting for someone to slip up so that he could put a bullet in their heads.
His presence alone spoke of a power that nearly stole the air straight out of my lungs. He was the one in charge, and everyone here knew it.
When he finally tore his eyes away from the men and glanced at me, my heart skipped. He narrowed his eyes at me as if I was the reason for his sour mood, and my ears suddenly felt hot. He lifted the hand he was holding his unlit cigarette with and curled his finger in a 'come here' sort of gesture, causing me to freeze.
My hesitation was probably clear in my gaze as I weighed my options quickly. Be smart, I reminded myself. My expression remained stoic as I approached the group of men, subconsciously inching myself closer to Spade as one too many eyes started to cling to my skin.
"This the one you were talking about?" The words were arrogant and smug sounding, rubbing me the wrong way, especially since they were coming from a stranger.
My gaze flew to Spade, but he was silent. His eyes were on me, simmering with anger and so much darkness that I almost shivered.
"Yeah, this is the one." Giovanni tipped his drink towards me, smiling at me knowingly. I swallowed hard, looking for the slightest cue to excuse myself. Even as he spoke, though, my eyes remained on Luciano, watching him as he watched me.
His gaze skimmed down my body, his jaw locked in a way that made him look...
Nevermind.
"She yours, Capo?" Another guy who was sitting on a chair beside me questioned, sounding genuinely curious.
I scoffed.
Spade didn't answer.
"She looks fair game to me."
My jaw locked, but I remained silent, trying to remind myself that in order to stay alive I couldn't get involved. Dizziness overwhelmed me the moment I glanced at Giovanni again, who was watching me carefully.
