Dove and I spent the next four hours together, watching TV and playing a couple games on Spade's PS5. We called Jersey while she was at work, and then once boredom crept in again, Dove remembered that she had marijuana in her car, and then we got high and went back to messing with the game. But even under the influence of weed, Dove was still worried that Spade would shoot her for messing with his shit.

I assured her that he most definitely would, but I highly doubted he'd care in this case, considering Eli and Ronan played the game console more than he did.

She relaxed a little bit after that, and then she had to leave not long after. Something about family drama.

I was going around the living room, collecting multiple chocolate wrappers and gummy bear plastic containers and soda cans. My phone rang on the coffee table, and with an armful of trash, I sighed and swiped it off the table, answering it. "Hello?" I sang into the phone, ambling into the kitchen.

"Hey," Eli drawled out, laughing.

"Oh, hi." I glanced at the clock above the microwave, seeing it was a little past noon. "What's up?"

"Nah, nothing. I'm just checking on you."

My heart warmed. "I'm still breathing. You?"

"From the looks of it." He said, and I could hear voices in the background. "We're almost done here, so you won't be alone much longer. Ronan would've stayed with you if he didn't have school..." He trailed off.

"Eli," I laughed. "I don't mind being here by my lonesome. It's peaceful." There was a pause. "And besides, Thing 1 and Thing 2 are outside, so I'm not really alone."

"Thing 1 and Thing 2? I'm pretty sure their names are Henry and Phillipe."

"Oh...well, same thing different font." I shrugged. "Where are you, anyways?"

"We're all at a meeting. Shit's just taking forever. These are the only times I envy Ronan for having school as an excuse." He mumbled.

I was about to respond when my phone beeped, letting me know someone else was calling. I pulled the phone away from my ear to glance at the screen, frowning when I realized it was an unknown number.

I didn't answer those.

"And you stepped out to call me? I feel so loved." I said sarcastically.

"Shit, Sam. You've been deprived of love for so long that you're starting to get delirious." He jested. "I'm sure someone out there loves you."

"Eat shit." I laughed into the phone, opening the trash can with my foot to throw the wrappers inside.

My phone buzzed once again, and with an irritated exhale, I said, "Hold on Eli, I'll call you right back." I didn't wait for his response before I hung up on him and accepted the other call.
