Spade
"Where the fuck..." I glanced around the table, noticing both Nico and Sam were gone. I looked up and scanned the room slowly, my eyes narrowed. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and dialed Nico, only to be sent straight to voicemail. "I'll go check the bathrooms." Wolfe walked past me and disappeared through the throng of people.
The doors opened up behind me and I turned towards them, only to see Eli and Amo coming through. "Find her?" Amo asked, his eyes searching me like I was hiding her in my fucking pocket or some shit.
"Does it look like I fucking found her?" I retorted, anger practically rippling from me.
"And Nico disappeared, too?" Eli frowned, gripping his flask tightly in what I could only assume was either worry or frustration. "So they're together?"
"I'm fucking assuming so. Neither one of them are answering the fucking phone." My eyes flew around the room again, something unfamiliar —worry, maybe?— washing over my body and causing my stomach to ache. Just a few minutes ago, I was wiping a Russian errand boys blood off my hands, only to come back to Samantha missing and Nico, who was supposed to be watching her, gone too.
"What's wrong?" I turned my head and glanced down at Olive, who was suddenly at my side with a smile that was supposed to be sexy on her face. It wasn't sexy, it was just annoying.
"You seen Nico or Sam?" Amo asked her.
She rolled her eyes and sighed loudly. "The little bitch left through those doors about forty minutes ago." Olive pointed to the doors that led to the lobby, and without having to be told, Eli and Amo took off in that direction.
I flicked off the ash of my cigarette and stepped closer to Olive, invading her space. She stumbled back as I took a long pull, rolling the cigarette around in my mouth. "Call her a bitch in front of me again, Olive, and I'll make you regret the moment you stepped foot on this earth. You got me?"
She blanched, her eyes widening. "I..." She gulped. "I got you, Spade." She averted her gaze and sighed.
I walked away, heading towards the lobby when my phone buzzed. I pulled it out and read over the message, the muscles in my arms tensing.
Nico— Top floor. Room 332. Hurry, man.
I made a beeline for the fire exit and forwarded the text to everyone else, letting them know to meet me up there. I was taking the steps two or three at a time until I reached the twenty-first floor, the faint smell of perfume lingering in the air like a beacon of passage.
The elevator dinged and Wolfe, Levi, and Amo spilled out of it, their gazes colliding with mine. It was so fucking silent up here, the perfect place to...
Fuck.
"Why would they be up here?" Wolfe cocked his head to the side, taking tentative steps down the hallway, looking for the room number I was currently staring at.
