"My girl isn't fucking weak and there isn't shit wrong with her. She's a fucking force and her pain is her power." He paused, allowing his words to seep into my soul. "And her place will always be at my side, say it." He demanded.
A few tears trac...

The trip back to Spade's house felt entirely too long, as if the minutes were being stretched out into hours. My throat felt like it was tightening with every shaky breath I took. I loved Amo. He was my friend, and I didn't have many of those. The pain in my chest felt so unbearable, spreading like rot all over my body, but I knew I deserved it.
By the time we pulled into the driveway, I had curled up into the seat, fighting to stay awake through all the mind fuckery.
Spade looked over at me, his eyes low and hazy.
"I'm sorry." I blurted. "I shouldn't have—"
He leaned over and wiped my tears with the pad of his thumb as he tucked my hair behind my ear and grabbed my jaw, angling my head up so that I was staring into his eyes. "There isn't shit to apologize for, Sam. It isn't your fault." His warmth fell over my lips. "None of it. Do you understand?"
I nodded my head, even though I didn't believe a damn thing he said.
Three other cars pulled up behind us with Nico, Ronan, and Eli in them.
I immediately knew why Wolfe and Knight weren't there. After Amo died, the two of them collected his body and put him in the backseat of car they came in. I didn't know where they were taking Amo's body or what they were going to do with it, but I didn't think I really wanted to know, either.
Another car pulled up behind the three others, and out stepped four guys I didn't care to recognize.
Spade and I got out the car at the same time, but he walked towards the other vehicles while I left and went to the front door, pushing it open. I just wanted to shower. I wanted to sleep. I headed to the sitting room just as Spade, Nico, and Eli walked in with everyone following behind them.
Dove was seated on the couch next to Elena when she spotted me. She shot up and rushed over, flinching at the sight of dried blood staining my skin. "Are you okay?" Her voice cracked. And before I got to answer, she was pulling me into a hug, pressing against me so tightly that I could feel the erratic beat of her heart pounding against my own chest.
"I'm fine." I whispered, my throat swollen.
"Where is Levi?" She asked as we disconnected, and then she gazed at the boys from over my shoulder. "And Wolfe and Knight?" She paused. "Amo?"
"He's gone." Ronan walked farther into the sitting area, and he plopped down on the couch and ran his hands down his face, despite the fact that the last of Amo was smeared all over them. "They fucking killed him."
Dove froze, her eyes hardening.
I squeezed my eyes shut and swallowed hard.
"And...Levi?" Her voice cracked.
"Levi's fine." I said, and I saw her shoulders relax.
"The kid," Ronan said, drawing my attention to him. He was staring at me. "He's safe. That's where Levi is. He took him to his parents' house. Said that he's safest there until we find his mother." He lowly, and Dove released the breath she was holding.
