One year later
"You know, despite the fact that I've seen this room thousands of time, it will never fail to impress me." Dylan moved around the mini art gallery Spade had built for me inside of our new home when we decided (more like I decided and he had no choice but to agree) that it was time to rebuild and renovate the manor just a few months before the twins were born.
This house was now completely a figment of my devious and over the top imagination.
"It's so bright in here." Dove moaned, covering her eyes with her hand as she tilted her head back to gaze at the glass ceiling.
"I like it." My shoulders lifted in a careless shrug. The natural sunlight sparked my creative fuse, and coming in here at night, with the moon shining as my only sense of light and reflecting off all my paintings, it was such a beautiful thing to witness. And, I also had my lava lamp.
"Your house is just aesthetically pleasing. How much did all of this cost— nevermind." Dylan threw her hands up and shook her head. "I am not about to break my own heart."
"Don't judge me. I was given an opportunity, why decline?" Due to the fact that I was pregnant during the whole process, and then ended up giving birth just before we finished, it made everything so much more complicated than it had to be. But I was determined to finish any changes before the twins even attempted to start crawling, and with a husband like mine, the construction companies were eager to get it done quicker.
"Mingle as you please, my favorite guests. I have babies to celebrate." I spun around and exited the gallery, gently closing the door behind me before I continued down the hallway, around the corner of the family room, and then up the grand stairs. I climbed them slowly, careful not to miss a step and fall on my ass.
I made my way down the hall once I finally got upstairs, and I walked through the two black doors that led to the private wing where the twins' joint rooms were. It may have been more than a little extra, but then again, they deserved nothing less.
When I got to the door, I quietly pushed it open, smiling immediately when I found Kade carrying a crying Melody in one arm and a fussy Maddox in the other. He looked so big compared to the miniature light blue vanity he was standing in front of that was on Melody's side of the room. She loved that thing, and because colors weren't gender exclusive and not all girls gravitated towards the color pink, the twins' room was a mix of smokey grey and light blue.
Everything was gender neutral, and would stay that way until they got old enough to realize what they liked and didn't like.
I couldn't fight the smile that curved my lips as I approached him. He was wearing a pair of black slacks with a button down that was rolled up to his elbows, showcasing his tattoos. He had some new pieces, the most recent and my favorite being the beautiful angel wings that spread out across his muscular back, with Mad and Melody's birth date and full names inside each pinion and in the middle of the two wings was my birth date, and the day we got married.
