Turns out, I really wasn't shooting anybody. This training session was strictly combat, and I was fucking tired. Two hours later, I was sweaty, exhausted, sore, and shown absolutely no mercy at all.
Spade wasn't kidding when he said we weren't anywhere near done. And he didn't go easy on me. In fact, he went even harder. I think that was what made this all a little more challenging for me. And, don't get me wrong, I liked a challenge...to a certain extent. I didn't, however, like being tossed around like a Barbie doll. I knew that by tomorrow, I was most likely going to be sporting bruises all over my ass and legs, and I didn't like those either. Especially if they weren't the result of mind-blowing, lethal sex. Something I hadn't had in four days.
So overall, it was safe to say that I was pretty fucking unhappy.
And Nico, the childish fucker, made it no better. He offered to go with me, to give me a break from Spade and work on 'brother-sister bonding', he called it, when really it was him trying to get back at me for what happened the first time we met. He almost fucking choked me to death.
I hated them all.
"Ease up, baby. We're done." Spade slung his arm around my neck and pulled me into his side, kissing the top of my head. His face was flushed from the heat.
"I'm so hot." I groaned, pressing my palm to my forehead.
"I've been saying that shit." Pax said as he walked past me, heading towards the house.
"Don't make me kill you on a Sunday." Spade murmured.
I laughed.
When we made it inside the house, I took a quick look around. White couches decorated the open living area, two large pillars separating the kitchen from the living room. Floor-to-ceiling windows surrounded us, allowing me to see how beautiful the view was from here. It was a beautifully decorated home, whoever the fuck owned it. "Just out of curiosity," I said, looking over at Spade as he used his discarded shirt to wipe the sweat dripping down his body.
His eyes shot to mine.
I cleared my throat. "Who is Addison?" I never thought to ask earlier, but I felt weird just lingering in a stranger's house, using her--or his, backyard to train and stinking up their house with the stench of sweat.
Eli walked inside the house just in time, and he shot Spade a Cheshire grin before turning to me. "Addison is Jonathan, as in Madison's husband."
"Your stepdad?" I asked him.
"Our stepdad, yeah." He clarified. "And we're using his house because it's a good distance from the city. Low chance we'd get interuppted."
"Are they here? Like right now?" I was starting to internally panic, because I wasn't prepared to be around my mother yet, or her husband. "Why didn't anyone tell me any of this? Why doesn't anyone tell me anything?" I looked around the group, my eyes finally settling on Spade's. He was watching me carefully, studying my reaction.
