Being surrounded by nothing but friends and family made me feel loved— safe. There wasn't a group of people in this world that I loved more than them. They each had a special place in my heart, every single one of them. I truly didn't think I'd be as strong as I am without them.
"Well I'll be damned." I was sliding my arm into the satin gloves that went with my wedding dress when I heard the door open. My head snapped up, and I immediately smiled. Sunlight shone through the floor-to-ceiling windows of the church's bridal suit, making Nico's hazel eyes appear a dirty greenish color.
I smiled brightly, lifting the large skirt of the wedding dress that spilled at my feet to turn around in a slow circle. "How do I look?"
Sliding his hands into his pockets, the toothpick in his mouth wavered as his lips lifted up into a smile. "You look beautiful, kitty."
The door opened up again and I saw Eli's pale colored hair before his face appeared in the doorway. He slipped inside the room with Ronan behind him, who shut the door and leaned against it. They were all dressed in black suits, looking like the perfect gentlemen. Perfectly bad gentlemen, but gentlemen nonetheless. "You know, I normally don't like weddings. But I'm living for this." Ronan smirked.
Eli whistled. "He's gonna lose his shit."
"You think?" I whispered, a wave of nausea rolling in. I held my stomach and leaned against the vanity, looking up towards the ceiling. Not now, please not now. Between yesterday and today, the nausea hasn't stopped. And I had a good feeling 80% of it had more to do with the note folded up neatly in the pocket of my dress and a little less to do with the babies.
"What's wrong?" Nico stepped up, gently grabbing my arm.
"Nervous." It wasn't a complete lie. I had asked the girls to go downstairs and update me on how many people were here in total, and I should've known the list would be long. I was marrying New York's Capo. Everyone would be here to see it. Not only was I swearing my loyalty to Spade, but I was also swearing an oath to the La Cosa Nostra.
Lord, help me.
"You sure?" Eli asked, coming in a little closer to get a better look at me.
I looked between my all three of my brothers and then sighed. I shifted my weight from one heel to the other before exhaling a breath. It was now or never. "I need you to give this to Kade." I dug my hand into the soft fabric of my pocket, pulling out the note I typed up yesterday and handing it to Nico. "Please."
"What's that?" Ronan came up beside me, frowning.
"It's a letter, dumbass." Eli mumbled.
"No shit, really?"
Nico was still staring at me silently, eyes squinted a little. He slipped the note into his pocket before stepping closer to me. "What's in there?"
I was crowded by three big giant who weren't going anywhere until they got what is it they wanted from me. "You guys aren't helping." I groaned, wringing my hands together. "Like at all."
