I climbed inside the passenger seat of Dove's sky blue Mercedes Jeep, hurriedly pulling the seatbelt over my body as she backed out of the driveway, practically holding her breath. The engine of the car bummed softly under my ass, different from Spade's deep V8.

I tried my best not to think about him, or his cock, or his hard muscles and suckable lips. My face remained impassive and stony as Dove gazed over at me, probably wondering why I was as ready to get away from here as she was. My whole entire body felt like it was about to catch on fire, like if I were to touch myself, I was going to explode.

As soon as we were on the highway, Dove turned down the radio and released the breath she was holding. "Sorry, I don't like that house." She glanced at me for a second, a glint of fear in her crystal blue eyes.

"I didn't think you were scared of anything." I smirked, pulling all my hair back into a ponytail.

She scoffed. "Everyone is afraid of something. And besides, I like living."

I didn't really believe that, but I left it alone. "So, where are we going?" I asked, shifting the subject.

"You need clothes, including a dress and a mask for tomorrow tonight." She broke out into a large smile, and I could tell this must've been her thing. Fashion, makeup, shopping. It made sense, I guess. She was sporting a white long sleeved ribbed crop top with a skirt to match. I, on the other hand, was wearing a pair of low-rise jeans and a cut-off tank top with a black leather jacket.

"A mask?" I asked.

"It's a masquerade party."

I felt a little relieved knowing my identity would be concealed. Another mask on top of the one I already wore. "Rich people are so extra." I frowned, swiping my tongue along my teeth.

"We are, aren't we?" Dove smirked.

I rolled my eyes, laughing.

"So, you and Levi are step-siblings?"

She shifted in the driver's seat, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear. "He's my foster brother. His parents adopted me before I could even remember being in an orphanage." She paused. "I was a baby."

"Oh," I paused, inspecting the dirt under my nails for a millisecond before I spoke again. "Are they good to you?"

"My mom and dad? They're like any average pair of parents." She shrugged. "But I'm grateful for them."

"And Levi?"

She tensed up, gripping the steering wheel a little tighter than she was before. "What about him?"
