A few weeks after Lilia (?) had joined the guild, another problem had occurred within our guild. My morning started off as usual: woke up, showered, then headed over to the guild for some breakfast. But when I arrived at the guildhall, everyone was gathered and whispering among themselves. The situation seemed serious.
"What happened?" I asked Laki, our guild's beautiful wood-make mage, "Wait, is that Laxus? He's back?"
"Indeed, it seems like your brother has finally returned from the dangers that lurk," Laki answered in her interesting diction.
"Apparently, someone stole an S-Class request from the second floor and ran off with it," Bisca, our lovely sniper, filled me in, "I didn't think there was someone that idiotic in the guild."
"Well, I'm sure I can name plenty that are that ballsy," I mumbled, "Still, he should've said something if he's back in town..."
"These brats... What kinda idiot would steal an S-Class mission without permission?!" grandpa raged.
"I think I saw a cat with wings fly off with a piece of paper. I'm not too sure though," my brother smirked; it was more than obvious that he knew who the culprits were.
"A cat? Happy did?! That means Natsu and Lucy must've went on that job!" many immediately realized.
"Hey, Gramps! You're kicking them out for breaking the rules when they come back, right? Assuming they make it back alive that is," Laxus continued to have that arrogant smirk plastered on his face. He looks so punchable right now... Unfortunately he didn't really do anything wrong, and I have a favor to ask of him, so I shouldn't hit him for no reason... Though I'd very much love to...
"Laxus! If you knew it was Happy who took it, why didn't you stop him?!" Mira scolded while giving my brother a sharp, deadly glare. Uwah... I haven't seen that expression from her since her She-Devil days; just what are you doing trying to piss Mira off?
"Oh~ I haven't seen that look on you for a while," Laxus taunted.
"Which job was taken?" grandpa asked.
"Galuna Island," Mira answered while still glaring at my brother. If I remember correctly, that's the one about the cursed island. I think it's also inhabited by demons too... How exciting- I mean, oh no!
"Those fools! Laxus go fetch those stupid brats immediately!" the master ordered, "Who else can bring them back if not you?!"
"I'm not free, ya' know? I have my own business to attend," the older lightning mage declined, making me roll my eyes at the amount of sarcasm dripping from his words. I couldn't help but chuckle at his annoying tone. Suddenly, Gray stood up and volunteered to bring the troublemakers back, and everyone started to settle down again. I noticed my brother's figure disappearing to the back room and immediately rushed after him, not willing to let this rare chance slip past me.
"Wait! Laxus!" I called out as I barely managed to grab onto the sleeve of his coat.
"If it's about going on that job with you, not now. I have some other things to take care of," he said.
"Then, are you free afterwards?" I asked.
"You're really persistent, aren't you," he clicked his tongue and held his hand out, only after an obnoxious eye roll, of course. Despite his clear annoyance, my eyes were sparkling with excitement since this is the first time in years that he agreed to go on a job with me. I fumbled through my bag and handed him the flyer. "An A-Class job? Do you wanna die?" he raised an eyebrow, "You've only learned how to use magic, like, two years ago, and you want to go on a job that's way out of your league?"
