"That cannot happen again." Sunny spoke breaking the silence between us. We must have been sitting in my car for a solid five minutes without saying a word to each other.
"Why?" I said I not bothering to look at her. I kept my eyes...

My parents are the most kindest most gentle human beings on this planet. Yet I was taught to never let anyone lay a finger on me without fighting back. Violence is the last option but it is an option. I am not a fighter but I will fight if I have to.
"You good?" Marcus said handing me the joint he just rolled up.
I light it and took a few hits. I was still angry. I wanted nothing more but to go back in that house and finish beat Kendra's ass.
I rolled my eyes when I saw Logan was calling my phone again. I immediately rejected the call. It's his third time in a row he was calling me. I have nothing to say to him.
"I have to tell Logan to check that bitch!" Marcus said rolling another joint. "Can you believe what that bitch called me." I said blowing the smoke from my joint in the air.
Tears were forming in my eyes. It was the first time anyone said something so ignorant and hateful to my face. Sure I beat her ass but the damage was done to my mental state. I cannot erase the fact that she said what she said.
"Sun, don't cry." Marcus said placing his hand on my back. "I can't believe this shit." I huffed looking out the window.
"It's just shit we are going to have to deal with." Marcus said in a somber tone.
I knew I was going to face some racism going to a predominantly white school but I was not prepared for this.
I was full blown crying. I was just so upset. Marcus let me cry for a couple of minutes. He did not know what to say. What could he have possibly said?
Eventually, Marcus started the car and drove me home. "I'm going to call you in the morning." He said casually before driving home.
When I walked inside my apartment I grabbed for the first wine bottle I can get my hands on and guzzle down half the bottle before deciding to call my dad.
I entered my bedroom feeling disoriented. I smoked way too much weed and the wine I just wash down was not making it any better.
"Baby girl you know this better be an emergency for you to be calling me at three in the morning." My dad said. He sounded like he had just woken up from his sleep. "I'm sorry daddy. I just needed to talk to you." I sniffled. "What is the matter babygirl." My dad said completely alert now.
I love my mom but I know her. She will hop in her car with her baseball bat and drive all the way here looking for Kendra. My dad is a little more level headed and less insane. He will handle this in a more mature way. I just needed advice.
