"Hey Gloria." My neighbor Mrs. Mathews smiled at me as I slowly walked out the front door to my house.

I took out my car keys and waved at Mrs. Mathews politely.

She's a kind woman, we never became close although we are close in age. She is not as vibrant and happy as she used to be. Since her son Hendricks moved out she's been closed off. There's been rumors circulating around about her son and his sexuality.

I've never been one for gossip but I've seen the boy with my own two eyes kiss a man out in the driveway. I never said anything to anyone but it was a shock to me.

He's a very good looking man and I was hoping he would someday start dating one of my daughters. From the looks of it he seems like a we'll rounded wholesome boy.

The men my daughters has brought home over the years makes me wonder just where did me and my husband go wrong when raising those girls. Each man that I have been introduced to just got worse and worse. From drug dealers to jobless bums. It makes no damn sense.

"Off to work?" Mrs. Mathews asked giving me a sincere smile. "Yeah." I nodded my head. "Oh Gloria, you work too much When are you going to take a vacation? I feel as if all you do is work." "That's because that is all I do." I sighed.

I'm getting way too old for this. I'm set to retire next year and it cannot come fast enough. I've been a nurse for 39 years and my black ass is tired. It's all became the same routine everyday.

I got in my car and drove the route I drive everyday to the hospital I work at.

When I clocked in I didn't even have a second to breathe before an ambulance arrived bringing in a young women who fainted at a gas station.

I looked at her chart. Sunny Gwyneth Rose. She looked familiar. I let out a deep breath when I realized who the women was.

A couple of months ago some college football player got into a car accident. Luckily his injuries was not too serious. He was a sweet kid. For as long as I have been doing this job I've dealt with several types of people. He was a very good looking man.

This particular case stuck with me because it was heartbreaking to watch his girlfriend cry in the waiting room. She was at the verge of a nervous breakdown. It reminded me so much of my son's old girlfriend.

My son Henry passed away from a motorcycle accident eight years ago when he was twenty years old. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think about my precious baby boy.

I was in the waiting room at the time with his girlfriend. Her name was Darlene. We have lost in touch over the years but if I knew one thing, that girl loved my son.

I could see that that girl was in love as well. Her name was Kendra. I spent the entire night consoling her and telling her that her boyfriend will be okay. A few hours after he woke up, I was surprised to see him hugged up with another women.

That women so happens to be the women lying in the hospital bed before me right now.

She was a beautiful black women and from the way she was looking at him I can tell she was smitten with the guy as well. To me it appeared as if neither of them had any clue what was going on. That scumbag football player was two timing those two beautiful women.

If this was early in my career I would have looked away and kept my mouth shut but I could honestly care less what happens now, I'm planning on retiring soon anyways. These men can't just toy with these girls hearts like this and think they can get away with it.

I know it goes against the rules but I gave Kendra my phone number and told her if she needed anyone to speak to, to just call me. She ended up calling me that night. She was a delightful girl.

"Hello doctor." I said politely as he entered the room.

He is a bit of a brute but I tolerate him because he is a doctor that actually cares about his patients. I can't say the same for the other money hungry sociopathic leeches that work in the hospital.

Turns out Sunny fainted due to low blood sugar. I read her chart again and she's anemic. Every other day there is an anemic rolled in here due to not taking care of themselves properly. She should be out of here in a few hours.

The doctor handed me her file and I squinted my eyes at the information in front of me. Sunny was four weeks pregnant. It had to be the football players baby.

I still talk to Kendra here and there. I spoke to her last week and she told me that she is still in the relationship with the football player.

Telling Kendra this information goes against everything I stand for as a nurse. It will also be illegal if I say anything but I could not sleep with this.

After hours of going back and forth I decided that I had to do the right thing and inform Kendra of her boyfriends deceit. I just hope Kendra will leave his sorry ass and find someone who will treat her right.
