The sun peeped into my room, filling it with the brightness and warmth, with a new day in my life, it was also a new start....in Mumbai! My city, my hometown, but my memories here....! I was sitting on my bed thinking about all this staring far out of the window.
No, no Advika this is not the time, it's a big day for you, you need to focus on that, come on babes!
I was my own motivator, my own bestfriend and I loved myself the most! These were the greatest truths of my life, or atleast that's what I told myself every day in and out!
My 1st commercial play back in London received a huge appreciation in the first 6 months of its release. I was on cloud 9 and the happiest person alive! I was in London when I received a mail from XYZ Productions. They had seen my work and the appreciation I received in London, so they wanted me to work with them on a web series with the best crew and cast!
It was a Mumbai based production!
I never would have come back if it weren't for my dreams! More than me my mom dad were the happiest because finally after 5 years I had come back to them, to our house here because otherwise it was always them going coming to London once a year to visit their only daughter, ME!
Today I had a meeting with the team! No matter how mature or strong I behaved I was still a small kid at heart which I feared to show it to the world around! As usual, I was nervous, excited and above all confused... obviously about what to wear!!
I am a lazy ass when it comes to dressing up!
'Obviously I mean I am not the lead or something of the show and I don't want to be overdressed or too casual, but then it is a meeting....ahh!!!', I muttered to myself standing in front of my closet.
"Mommm", I called out to my mother grumpily!
"Good morning Mumma, I am going to take a quick shower please select something for me to wear, I'll quickly take a shower and return"
"Oh baby, when are you going to grow up baccha!"
I just passed on a smile to her and hurried for the shower.
"Good morning dad!", I wished him on the breakfast table as a formality.
"Good morning, come eat", he offered
"Ahh no, actually just this juice and sandwich is enough for me. I need to leave asap", I said checking my phone for any latest updates that I might have missed.
"Advika no, sit and eat properly and then leave", my mother ordered.
"Mom, I seriously don't want to be late today please, I'll eat something there for sure and you know that I can't stay hungry or else I'll eat up the people around", I couldn't help but chuckle at my own anger and hunger issues!
"Okay bye I am leaving see you guys!"
"Drive safe beta you have lost habit of Mumbai roads", dad replied.
"Don't worry Dad I'll be fine, bye", saying so I grabed my car keys and left.
Driving through Mumbai is a headache and I had no option. I had to reach on time that's all was on my mind!
My habit of being over excited for something and reaching places before time was not new but also I didn't trust Mumbai's traffic and hence left a lot early and luckily, I didn't get much traffic and here I was! The first person to reach the meeting venue sitting there like a desperate kid
Thankfully people arrived on time though I expected everyone to be atleast 15-20 mins late because that's what Mumbai does to your daily schedule!
All the people around me were sitting in the conference room looking at each other's faces and judging each other. We all had an online meeting earlier so all I knew was just faces and I personally didn't know anyone there other than the director of the show Rohit, a friend of mine from London who happened to be a Mumbaikar too, living just a little away from my place.
God knows who was that VIP person for whom we were waiting for 30mins!!
I am irritated and hungry...okay maybe I am hungry so I am irritated...ahhh fuck it I need to stay calm!
Even the lead actress was sitting beside me, if a girl could arrive on time who was this handsome hunk who was taking so long!
I was grumpy already, my patience sucked, always!
Rohit interrupted my thoughts, "Guys we need to wait for him to arrive", he addressed the others and then turned to me, "stay calm please, I know you are irritated!", He whispered to me.
Our silent conversation was very enthusiastically interrupted by Mr. Malhotra the producer of the show as he stood up, "Oh, look who's here!"
