"Weight throw. Long jump. 50 meters. Sprinting. Resis..."
And here is where my brain shuts down and begins to regret wanting to be a hero.
Why all this physical activity? What's more, on the first day of school. After only 30 minutes since we entered!

I let out a sigh as Shoto places his hand on my back and begins to caress it

I let out a sigh as Shoto places his hand on my back and begins to caress it.
"This was not planned on the first day." I tell him in a low voice.
"We are in the best school to become heroes. What did you expect?"
"I know but...you know I have to save my energy!" I say looking at him in an obvious way.

"To do what? Read another Kageyama x reader?" He asks, taking his arm off my back to cross in front of his chest.
"I swear, Todoroki, I'll find the first teapot I have in the house and remake the rest of your face."
He snickers and then strokes my hair.
"You better pay attention shorty."
Note to myself: finished school call Enji.

Our professor calls a student for the weight throw test.
A boy with blond hair shot on all sides heads, go to the center of the circle to prepare for the throw.
The boy rotates his arm back and throws the ball with all the force he has, using explosions.
"DIE."
Did he really say die? To a ball?
What's his problem?
Aizawa shows him his result. 705.2 meters.

"Wow that sounds like fun." I hear some of the students say.
It actually doesn't sound that bad.
"Sounds like fun you say?" Our professor turns to us, giving us a fearful look.
"So you plan to spend the next three years here having fun all the time? Do you have any idea what it means to be heroes?
Uh oh.
I don't think this is going to end well.
"If so then...new rule: the student who ranks last will be considered "hopeless.."
Okay now I'm sure this is not going to end well.
"And he will be expelled."
That's right.

A few signs of protest are raised at Aizawa's words, which are soon extinguished.
And it is at this moment that I realize how seriously this school should be taken.
First test: 50 meters
I prepare myself on the starting line by warming up a little by jumping on the spot.
Thanks to my uniqueness I can simply levitate myself and go straight for the finish line.
It should be nothing complicated in this case.
I look to the side to see my current opponents.
To my left is girl about my height with a long tongue out and green hair. She looks like a frog.
How cute.

I turn to my right and find a boy, however, much taller than me. He's wearing glasses and has...
What does he have coming out of his legs?
I shake my head, returning my focus to the challenge. I see Shoto looking at me and giving me an encouraging smile, and that's enough to give me even more drive.
Aizawa gives the go-ahead and the boy on my right whizzes by within a second, giving me no time to realize it.
I recover almost immediately and lift myself off the ground. I give myself a push forward and stay focused on the finish line in front of me.
I'm going pretty fast, but not as fast as Sonic out front.

I cross the finish line clocking 4.17 seconds.
That's not bad.
But I can do better than that.
I didn't spend years training with Todoroki and my parents for this.
I go to stand beside Shoto, who has an impassive look on his face.
"Don't pull a long face. It doesn't suit you." I tell him, giving him a little pinch on the arm.
He is about to retort when a girl with brown hair and pink cheeks approaches us.
Can it be that they are all so tender here?
"Takeda right? Wow you were amazing earlier. Your quirk is so strong." She tells me enthusiastically.

I blush slightly at the compliment as I see out of the corner of my eye my best friend set off to prepare for the challenge.
"I thank you. By the way, just call me Mei. You on the other hand are...?"
"Ochako Uraraka. But in that case Ochako is fine." She replies, smiling at me.
I smile back at her as well, glad that I can make friends with someone outside of Shoto.
Which he should do as well.
So I find myself evaluating the other classmates with the pink-cheeked girl.
The other trials pass fairly quickly, except for a few minor incidents including a green-haired, broccoli-looking boy who broke his finger and the freak from earlier who yelled at the "I'm going to break my bones with my quirk."

I almost always rank well.
"It's time to submit the results." The professor informs us.
"I bet on the bone crusher that he's the one to go." I say, throwing a light elbow at my best friend.
"No, I'm not going to humor you."
"Oh come on. I know you want to bet too."
He rolls his eyes and then gives me a small smile.
"Okay okay, I say the invisible girl."
"Ah yes, the whole 'expulsion' thing was a lie." Aizawa says with an evil grin, thus making our amusement evaporate in a second.
Many of our comrades remain shocked and some instead sigh at the whole thing.
"Come on guys, use your brains. It was obvious it was a ruse!"

And feel her there. It came L of the situation.
The professor shows us the table and I ranked third.
"Congratulations Shorty." Shoto says to me, mussing my hair again.
I stick my tongue out at him but blush. I am happy to receive compliments from him.
For me, the only person, excluding my parents, whom I have always wanted to make proud is Shoto himself.
Just as I have always been proud of him.

And so it is that the first day comes to an end and Shoto and I head home.
"It's been tiring." I say yawning while stretching my arms.
I see my best friend staring at me with a small smile on his face.
"I always tell you that you should smile more often. You're cute when you smile." I tell him as I stand up on my toes and lightly squeeze his cheek.
The boy blushes at my gesture, and that pleases me quite a bit.
Because deep down, I am aware of my feelings for him. As afraid as I am, I cannot deny it.
After all, let's face it, who wouldn't fall in love with Shoto Todoroki?

A/N
The rehearsal part has always bored me even in the series, so clearly my lazy butt was not engaged in this one at all.

Kisses and hugs.

Always let me know what you think.
