After the busy day with the guys, I am literally dead on the couch.
My father is watching a soccer game while my mother is comfortably reading a book with her head resting on his shoulder.

I find myself lying with my head on her lap while I am also reading.
Only at this moment do I realize that I have not yet turned on my cell phone.
I unplug it from the power outlet I had attached it to since it had then run out of power.
It takes a moment to turn on but when it does I am stunned.

4 missed calls from Fuyumi.
6 missed calls from Shoto and one unread message from her.
I am about to call but decide before I open the message.

From Icyhot ❤️❄️🔥
When a person is in need, I see that you are always available. Thank you.

I stand with my mouth open the message and give a wistful laugh.
"What is it?" My mother asks me, resting her gaze on me.
I hand her the cell phone for her to read the message as I sit back with anger starting to rise.
"Why didn't you answer him?" My mother asks me.
"Because I can't always be there behind him hanging on his every single time he calls me. Especially after the way he treated me."

"Maybe he wanted to clarify." She says closing the book and giving me her full attention.
"He knows where I live. If he wants to clarify, he may as well come here and let's talk in person. I won't be the one to go at every snap of his fingers."

"At least call Fuyumi back. For her to call you too means it was important." I snort, knowing full well that she's right.
"I hate it when you're right." I tell her on my way to my room to call Fuyumi.
She answers after a few rings.

"Mei! Thank goodness, I've been looking for you all day. Are you okay?" She asks me in a worried voice.
"Yes I am fine. Rather what happened? I had my phone turned off and I saw now all the missed calls."
"You have no idea! Shoto wanted to visit mom today and it seemed to be okay but he needed to talk to you. Only you didn't answer anymore and he felt terrible. He had a fight with dad before he locked himself in his room to practice. It went on for I don't know how long until he was sick and-" Fuyumi starts talking in bursts leaving me little time to assimilate all the information.

"Wait, wait. Slow down for a second Fuyu, what do you mean he went to see your mother? He had been avoiding going for months if not longer."
"Yeah but he decided so today. And everything had gone okay with her. But I know he needed you for comfort on this. I know you had a fight Mei but please try to clarify. He's really sick and since he finished training, she won't come out of his room or eat."

I let out a sigh as I run my hands in front of my face.
"All right, I'll see what I can do tomorrow. But I don't know if things will change Fuyu. We had a really bad argument." I tell her as I sit on the bed.
"But you have always managed to clarify Mei. I know you two. I know you're hurting too and you know as well as I do that you can't be without each other. It has always been that way since you were children. You can't let this thing divide you. No matter what has happened."

"Fuyu, I said 'I love you' to Shoto in a moment of anger, and he responded by telling me that I am like your father and only want to use him. I know he doesn't really mean those things but they still hurt. I opened my heart to him and he treated me that way."
The girl remains silent on the other side of the receiver not quite knowing what to answer.

"I will still see what I can do because I guess it was hard for him to talk to his mother today."
"I didn't know anything about it Mei. I only knew that you had an argument. I'm sorry." She says to me sighing into the phone.
"I know, I'm sorry too. I have to go now Fuyu. Tomorrow we go back to school and I need to sleep. Good night."
My friend also wishes me good night before ending the call.
