After taking a good shower, I throw myself on the bed with a sigh.
What a day.
I placed third in the festival and I should be happy about that, but instead I feel anything but happiness.
I told my parents what happened and as always they were extremely understanding. They told me to give Shoto time since it will be a much worse day for him than mine.
Maybe I should write to him?
But what could I say to him?
He was very clear when he expressed his feelings and I would go against all the advice I was given.I sink my face into the pillow, chasing back the tears that threaten to fall.
I hear a soft knock on the door and my father slowly enters.
I realize it is him because my mother would have waited for my answer before opening it."I brought you some tea." He tells me, placing a cup on the nightstand and sitting on the edge of the bed.
He strokes my back for a while before I turn and hug him tightly.
He immediately reciprocates my hug and continues stroking my hair."You did very well today. Your mother and I are very proud of you." He tells me, leaving a kiss on my head.
"Thank you, Dad. Also for the tea. I needed it." I tell him breaking away from the hug and retrieving my cell phone.
"Ah one more thing. Can I go out with some of my classmates tomorrow? I don't think I'll be back late." I ask him taking a sip of the hot drink. My father nods giving me permission and then leaves the room.
I retrieve my laptop and know full well what I need now.
I take refuge under my blanket with tea in hand and start Haikyuu.
Free therapy.Shoto POV
I begrudgingly eat the plate in front of me not being very hungry.
It's just me and my sister at the table, which is not much different from other days.
At most the only one who comes here is my brother.
"You did very well today." Fuyumi says to me, drawing my attention.
"Not good enough." My father's deep voice thunders as he makes his entrance into the room.My sister shushes without adding more to avoid unnecessary arguments, but today is not my day.
"I am sure I have done enough." I reply, looking at him defiantly. My father does not appreciate this and approaches me threateningly but he stopped scaring me long ago.
"Watch your words Shoto." He says looking at me furiously. "Or what?" I tell him as I notice Fuyumi keep shifting her gaze from me to him worriedly."All right. You are grounded. Go to your room!" He tells me raising his voice and pointing to my room. I raise my hands pretending to be afraid and then give him a smirk.
"How scary." I roll my eyes and head to my room. The next day
Mei POV
I sip my bubble tea while Mina is leaning on my shoulder looking at Instagram.
"But when is that boy coming? He's always late!" Says Kirishima looking at his watch for the fifth time since we've been here. We've been waiting for Sero to arrive for about fifteen minutes.
Momo and Yuki join us at the table with drinks.
"Sorry guys! My bus was late." Sero catches up with us, running with bated breath from the thing done.
"It's about time, too." Bakugo says looking down at him.
"In the bus?" Momo and I ask in unison.
"Of course ladies. Not all of us can afford the driver to drive us around. People like us use the bus." Denki tells us before Kyoka slaps him on the cup."That's just your envy talking." She tells him, and that seems to shut him up.
"I don't even think I've ever taken a bus." Momo replies before taking a sip from her tea.
I let out a laugh before I hear my cell phone ring.
It's Shoto. He's calling me."Don't you dare answer it." Mina says looking at the screen of my iPhone.
"I can't ignore it." I say turning to look at her.
"Sorry to butt in, but I think Ashido is right."
Yuki looks at me with her big green eyes.
"Bakugo told me a little about the situation, and I am of the opinion that you should leave him on his toes for a while. Not so long, just the right amount of time. That's what I think." She tells me as I resume staring at my cell phone screen.
"Maybe you are right. Yes, let's enjoy this evening. I think I've earned it."
I put the call down and turn off my cell phone. The girls answer jubilantly, and so we enjoy our time together.
Shoto POV
"The user you called is not currently..."
I don't even wait for it to finish and throw my cell phone across the room.
I need her.
I need to talk to her.
Especially after seeing my mother again today.I look out the window and notice that all the lights in her house are off.
There is no one there.
I retrieve my cell phone and try to call her again.
And again.
And again.I even leave her a voicemail before throwing myself on the bed and throwing a smothered fist against the mattress.
