Bakugo's response to Shigaraki's question is very unfriendly, which causes me to let out a chuckle.
The villan does not seem to appreciate my reaction.
"Do you find it funny?" The blue-haired boy asks as he looks at me.
"I do, actually. I'll be honest Shigaraki, I might have even considered your proposal if you weren't in charge. You're ridiculous, really. You're not even scary with that hand in your face. Maybe you should work a little harder on your look before you do recruitment interviews. And also on reception. You don't sit a person down five times when you want to hire them." I say staring intensely into his face.
A small smile escapes the boy before he resumes speaking.

"Mei Takeda, right?" He says as he stands up.
He moves a little closer to me, which makes Bakugo grind his teeth, but I don't flinch.
"I remember when they talked about your family on the news. Heroes Scarlett and Vermillion Mind's youngest daughter is kidnapped one night in July. Ironic isn't it? You too, just like your dear little sister, kidnapped one night in July." Shigaraki continues to say placing himself in front of me.
He is trying to provoke me, and I know I need to be stronger.
"These games won't work on me." I tell him while sustaining his gaze.

"No games little girl, I just wonder how your parents will feel right now, especially your mother. I wonder how she must be suffering. Not to mention the dear Todoroki family so fond of you."
He looks at me, smiling, knowing he is getting closer and closer to a sore point.
"Oh yes, the look on little Todoroki's face when he realized he couldn't save you was priceless." Says the villain with purple scars on his face.
"Dabi..." says Shigaraki hiding a grin.

"Don't even try to talk about Shoto or my family." I say through clenched teeth moving in my chair.
"Take it easy, take it easy. We are not here to treat you badly but only to recruit you and make you understand how wrong the hero society is." Shigaraki says, looking first at me and then at Bakugo.
From there he begins a long speech about how muddy the hero society is and why we should join them.
My friend and I listen to him, to the last.

"Go Twice, liberate them." He commands the villain with his hand in his face.
Bakugo and I look at each other for a second, knowing full well what we should do once we are free.

The villain named Twice, approaches us, freeing first me and then the blond. It is a matter of a second before we both go on the attack. Bakugo causes an explosion in Shigaraki's face while I take control of some tables by throwing them at Dabi and Toga.
"Your speech doesn't work with us! The summary is 'we make people hate us so join us.' Well you have the wrong people Shigaraki." Says Bakugo with a grin on his face.

I stand beside him, both of us ready to fight.
"We have been won over by the look on the heroes' faces when they win! So we reject the offer!" I conclude, smiling at my friend.
We get into position.
From both my hands and Bakugo's come some light.
But we are interrupted by the door knocking.
We all turn toward it.
"Good evening, pizzas delivered!" Says the voice outside the door.

Uh food!

A/N
I, like Mei, would have thought of food in such a situation, too.
