"What are you doing here?" I asked.

"I could ask you the same thing." My mom folded her arms across her chest as she cocked a brow up. I swallowed the lump that had formed in my throat and looked around to find Andy gone with the wind.

I turned back to her. "I— uh— it's a bar."

"Yes I can see that. And you're underage."

"I'm drinking with friends. Back to my question what are you doing here?" I pressed on, the shock still very present on my face. My mother was not one to go out at night. She's the type of person who'd much rather spend her night in playing Candy Crush or watching a movie which is a trait I picked up from her.

"Oh yeah? Who?" She eyed me.

I gulped. "Alex."

"Really? So that wasn't Andy I just saw beside you and then flashed himself out?" She said it with so much confidence my jaw dropped. Flashed. My mother's mouth curved up into a smirk as she waited for my response— truly I had none. I couldn't even come up with a sentence.

My mother turned around as her eyes scanned the crowd. She turned and looked behind me, her eyes dancing along everyone as she shouted above the music, "It's alright Andrew. You can come out of hiding. I don't bite I promise."

My body was frozen in place— it was as if my feet were sitting in cement and I could not break away if I even tried. My mother turned once more and I saw her eyes trail up, and I finally broke away to look up. Andy stood in place, his eyes wide with worry.

"I'm sorry, I should say Andy by the color of your eyes right now." She added, a soft smile on her face. Andy and I both took a sharp breath and looked between her and each other.

"I— Hi Miss Baker." Andy's voice shook.

"What the fuck is going on?" I asked sharply.

Her eyes darted to me. "Snow! Language."

"I'm sorry but— what the hell? I'm so lost I— how are you— how do you— oh my god I need a drink." I raised my glass to my lips and tipped it back, finishing what remained in seconds. I looked over at Andy who still had half a glass and snatched his before tipping it back. I was definitely going to feel this tomorrow morning.

"I was going to say the same thing but apparently I need a new one now." Andy grumbled as I handed him the empty glass.

"Andy, I can assure you that you have nothing to worry about." Andy turned to look at my mom, confusion still deep in his eyes. We were both utterly lost in this situation. "I trust you with my daughter. I have no worries about you."

"Ma'am, thank you but I—"

"I didn't know you were coming out tonight. But I grabbed you a Jack and coke." We both looked over and saw Kris emerging from the crowd, handing my mother her drink. She smiled and nodded her thanks as she took a sip. Kris returned the smile and looked away but locked eyes with both of us.

"Oh shit I thought you two left?" He asked.

"No! We did not. We are still very much here and even more confused!" I half shouted, the confusion rising in both of us. By now, the drunkenness was also climbing to the top and increasing my anger.

"Kris? Care to explain?" Andy chimed in finally.

"Ahh— Monica?" He looked at my mom.

"Yes, I know Kris and I know all about Andy."

"I— Have you known the entire time?" He asked.

"No. Well— I knew about beasts for awhile since meeting Kris a few years ago. Long story short, it was a wrong place wrong time situation." She said, glancing at Kris who nodded his head silently. She took another sip of her drink. "I left a bar alone and walked down through the back way, where I was then cornered by two creatures as I called it."
