"Where have you been?" Damien asked, standing up as the bell rang to dismiss us. I slung my bag over my shoulder and pushed my seat in as I followed him into the hallway.
"Well you saw Andrew was out the other day so obviously we couldn't come to school." I laughed, weaving my way through the crowd. I woke up this morning to find an empty bed. Ashley came in and flashed me back this morning.
I asked where Andy was and he said he told him to take me back to school. That's all I got. I called him but he sent me a text saying he'd be back later.
"Where's Andy?" He asked.
I shrugged. "No idea."
"Well, how was Andrew last night?" He asked, cocking a brow up. I narrowed my eyes at him, asking what he was trying to get at. "I'm just saying I am— well, surprised— that a beast is a good guy."
"It's just not something you see every day. Truly this could be the first." He added lightly, dropping his voice down a bit. We walked outside to the main campus and headed down the sidewalk.
"I can assure you he is fine and you have nothing to worry about. I promise." I laughed lightly. Damien pursed his lips and shrugged his shoulders, letting it go. I knew he cared about me and just wanted to make sure everything was okay. "I'm curious now, but what's your beast's name?"
"Demon." Damien replied.
I furrowed my brows. "Demon?"
"Technically his name is Damon, but he referred to himself as Demon. Said it was more fitting." He said, adding a light laugh at the end as he shook his head. Damien looked ahead as he spoke. "I haven't seen him in quite some time— maybe a year or two?"
"You gained control that easily?"
"Well, control of him. My blood control is always on and off, and it's difficult to manage." He said softly, glancing over his shoulder making sure no one was close enough to hear us. "He was bad at first, but so was I. We kind of matched personalities almost. But as I grew up and changed as a person, I don't know what happened but he just drifted."
"I still hear him in my head every now and then, but he makes no attempts at coming out." He added. Damien scratched the back of his neck. "Sometimes I honestly feel like he's out without really being out."
"I understand." I nodded my head.
"No offense but I don't think you do." He chuckled.
"No honestly I think I kind of get it. Like, the first time I met Andy he told me his name was Andrew and he was super cold to me." I said, explaining how we met. I told him how he was very strict on calling him Andrew, and I noticed his eyes would flicker to dark every once in awhile. "And he whipped a dodgeball at my head."
Damien cackled. "Oh now that is funny."
"Fuck off." I shoved him.
"Let me know when Andy gets back." Damien said, walking me up to the door of my building. I turned around and cocked a brow. "Oh why? Do you miss your boyfriend?"
"Shut up. I wanted to see if he'd play some pool later or something. Trying to be friendly." Damien teased as he shook his head at me. I smirked and rolled my eyes, telling him I'd call whenever he got back.
