"So how are you enjoying the college life? Are you getting the experience?" Amy asked as she took a bite of her salad. I wiped my mouth with my napkin and nodded my head, swallowing my soup.

"I enjoy it so far." I said. "It's nice."

"Oh yeah? With buzzkill around?" She joked.

I looked at Andy who was already shooting me a dirty look. I laughed and ruffled his hair, earning a small smile before he swatted my hand away. "He's actually enjoying school."

"Oh really?" Chris laughed.

"I'm shocked Andrew." Amy laughed, however I noticed her eyes immediately go wide with fear as the name slipped from her mouth. We all slowly looked at Andy who still ate away at his food, not looking up.

Finally, he looked up. "What?"

"I— didn't mean—" She stammered

"Mom, are you afraid of me?" He asked. His tone was half hearted, as if he was nervous for the answer. His mother quickly shook her head no and said she simply didn't want to anger or upset him. He shrugged. "Mom I don't really care anymore. I've grown used to it."

Amy nodded her head and continued with her small talk. She spoke about her cats and how they were doing, as well as Chris and his big promotion at his job. They seemed to be doing well with their lives, making Andy happy.

"Now you two room together, right?" His dad asked as he pointed a fork at both of us. We both nodded our heads, and Andy cracked a light smirk as he said, "Yeah someone was not too happy about that but we made it work."

I rolled my eyes. "He's such a—"

"Snow?" I paused, turning around and feeling my throat close up. Jake looked down at me, his face holding something I never thought I would see from him— fear.

"What— what are you doing here?"

"I need to talk to you now." He said, his voice shaking a bit. Jake tugged at my shoulder and Andy shot up, a growl erupting from his chest. I looked between the two of them and stood up quickly, pressing my hands against his chest.

"Andy— calm down." I hissed, watching his eyes flicker between red and blue. He clenched his jaw as he stared down Jake who now slumped his shoulders in utter fear.

Your parents are here. I thought.

Instantly his body relaxed and Andy cleared his throat. He licked his lips and apologized but still stood, watching Jake carefully. Jake gave a nervous glance at me as he repeated, "I need to talk to you now."

"We can all talk." Andy snapped.

Jake shot him a glare. "No."

"Andy, I'm fine." I whispered.

I excused myself and started to walk however Andy grabbed my hand. He begged me to stay but I said I'd only be a minute, and followed Jake outside. The cool breeze danced along my skin and I shivered. "What's wrong?"

"Your boyfriend." He said.

"You really dragged me out because you don't like Andy? Seriously?" I snapped, rolling my eyes. I turned to go back in but Jake caught me by my arm. I turned back to him.

"No— I mean yes, I hate the dude." He said with a roll of the eyes. I scoffed and folded my arms across my chest. "But I saw him— I saw him with another girl."

That got my attention. "Who?"

Jake shrugged his shoulders. "I'm not sure. I don't know her but she had brown hair and she was kinda thin." As the words left his mouth I felt my body go cold. I was gnawing anxiously on my lip as he continued. "Oh, and something off about her— she had really—"
