The next morning I woke with a start, shooting up off of the couch. My heart was pounding out of my chest, and I took a deep breath as I ran my fingers through my hair. I swallowed hard as my breathing slowed down, and I glanced over to find Andy still fast asleep.
I let out a sigh. He had shifted back, and he now faced me with his hand still interlocked with mine. I gave a weak smile as I looked at him— I miss him. I miss waking up every morning next to him, and feeling safe in his arms as I start to fall asleep.
Slowly, I slipped my hand out of his. Andy stirred in his sleep but never woke as I got off of the couch and headed upstairs, being very quiet as I tip toed to the kitchen. I saw all of the boys sitting around talking amongst one another, however they all fell silent as they saw me appear.
"How'd it go?" Jinxx asked.
"Well she doesn't have a slash on her cheek, so I'd say pretty well." Jake teased, rolling his eyes as he took a bite of his toast. I couldn't help but laugh at that and I shrugged my shoulders. "It went— fine, I guess. I took care of him last night."
"Did you guys talk?" Ashley asked.
I sighed. "I don't know. Kind of."
"And?"
"I don't want to talk about this anymore. I'm going to grab my things and head out." I said quickly, walking upstairs to his room. I grabbed my keys and purse before heading downstairs. I waved goodbye to the boys before ducking out to my car. My phone buzzed in my pocket as I started the car, and I quickly answered.
"Hello?" I asked.
"Snow! Where have you been?" My mother asked angrily on the other end. I cradled the phone in my shoulder as I held it up to my ear. "I—uh, fell asleep at a friends."
"Who?" She asked.
"My friend Damien." I lied.
There was a pause. "Does Andy know?"
"No— Mom, Andy and I aren't even together anymore." I said angrily, rolling my eyes. I hadn't told her because I didn't want to deal with the millions of questions she would ask, which is exactly what she started to do right now. "I gotta go. I'm coming home now."
I hung up the phone and let out an angry sigh as I headed onto the main street. I could already tell today was going to be a rough day for me. Damien had spammed my phone last night asking if I was okay and what happened, but I wasn't in the mood to tell him right now.
Quite frankly, I don't know if I'm okay. Being apart from Andy was good and bad all wrapped into one. Yes, it helped calm my anger down and let me relax, but at the same time the aching of my heart was something unbearable. Every day was a drag without him. Seeing him last night and sleeping beside him again felt like home to me, but I don't think I could ever get over what he did.
I don't understand why he wouldn't just own up to it. It doesn't mean I would forgive him right away, but if he owned up to his mistake and took responsibility for it, it would make me think a little better about him. But instead, he just lied. He lied straight to my face about it, and I could never forget that.
I finally pulled up to my house. Turning the car off, I let out a sigh before getting out and shutting the door behind me. I walked up to the front door and unlocked it, letting it swing open as I stepped inside. Samson ran up to me and licked at my legs, and I scratched behind his ears, letting out a light laugh. "Mom? You home?"
No answer— she must've left for work. I closed the door and gave Samson another scratch before walking into the kitchen. His food bowl was full but his water was low. I grabbed it from the floor and filled it up for him. My head was spinning with thoughts. I just wanted to go into my room, lock the door, and cry. Setting his bowl down, I grabbed my bags and headed upstairs.
