The next morning was absolutely brutal. I woke up with a pounding headache and let out a low groan, dragging my hands down my face. I glanced over and saw a tall glass of water sitting on my nightstand with a little piece of paper next to it. I reached over and saw the chicken scratch note saying my name with a little heart next to it. I chuckled softly.
I grabbed the glass and swung my legs over the side of the bed, pushing myself up to stand. Instantly I got that terrible head rush again and let out a groan. Glancing over my shoulder I saw Andy nowhere to be found.
Shuffling out of my room and down the stairs, I heard small conversation in the kitchen. The smell of pancakes trailed throughout the house and i hummed in pleasure as I headed in. My mother was sat at the end of the table as I rounded the corner, and she smiled. "Oh good you're just in time!"
"Hi mom. Have you seen—?" My sentence fell off as I looked over at Andy hovering over the stove. He flicked it off and grabbed the plate from the counter before turning around. His red eyes locked with mine and he smiled.
"Good morning princess." Andy murmured.
"I— Good morning." I said, my eyes never leaving his. He walked past me, leaning down to kiss my forehead before setting the remaining plate on the kitchen table. Andy grabbed the chair and pulled it out for me, motioning for me to sit.
"Soo— last night wasn't a dream?" I asked, sitting myself down as I looked at both of them. My mother chuckled as she shook her head.
"I thought the same thing." Andy laughed.
"I nearly scared your boyfriend to death. For a beast so large and intimidating, you sure are a bit of a scaredy cat aren't you?" My moms eyes darted to Andy, flashing a sly grin as she laughed. Andy looked down at the ground, hiding his embarrassment.
"Oh god mom what did you do?" I whined.
"No don't worry! It wasn't her fault." Andy quickly intervened, his eyes glancing back up. "I woke up a little early and came down here to grab you some water since I knew you'd be feeling it today." At that I rolled my eyes and huffed. "I kinda— I don't know forgot— that she was home and—"
"And this man screamed like a little girl when he turned to see me in the doorframe." My mom finished, laughing hysterically. Red washed over Andy's cheeks as he looked away once more, holding in a laugh. He cleared his throat and reached out onto the table, grabbing a plate. "Pancakes?"
I couldn't hold back my amusement as I grabbed one from him, setting it on my own plate. He offered one to my mother as well who happily nodded her head, and then put some on his own plate. My stomach rumbled at the sight and I dug in, listening to their small talk while I ate.
"So Andrew— er— I'm sorry Andy—"
"Don't worry Miss Baker, it's okay."
"My apologies still. So Andy, is— is eating human food like— normal to you? Like do you actually need it or do you eat it to feel more natural?" My eyes went wide as they darted over to my mom, and I hit my fist against the table. She looked over at me with surprise. "What? I'm curious!"
"Mom! We are not playing uncomfortable twenty questions with my boyfriend." I hissed angrily, my stare cold as ice. Andy looked at me, taking a bite as well before turning back to her.
"Well I mean... we do need food considering we are still living beings. It's just not as fulfilling as— well— our other diet." His voice dropped at the end of his sentence, and he cleared his throat. My eyes never left my mother as my frustration grew. She glanced over at me, letting out a huff.
