I walked back to the room silently. I opened the door and sensing my distress Erwin was already up and dressed to meet me at the door.
"What's happened? Are you okay?"

"Marley are going to invade Paradis..." I whispered.

Erwin's face fell and he pulled me in kissing me softly.
"Everything will work out. You've helped us so much that I'm sure we will be more prepared than they expect."

I leaned against his chest the sound of his heart beating fighting against my own which pounded in my ears.

"Don't worry about us. Go and do what you must. We'll all be fine." He whispered caressing my hair.

"What? No. I'm not leaving. I'm staying here. I said I'd never leave again." I pushed away from him hurt that he'd even suggest it.

Erwin sat down on his desk chair and leaned forward pulling me into his lap wrapping a blanket around us.
"I know what you said. And I was thrilled. How couldn't I be? The woman of my dreams was back in my arms just the way I'd always wanted. She was just as loving and helpful and amazing as I remember. Not to mention the most beautiful person I have ever laid my eyes on, and had the pleasure of doing so. But you also must understand how I worry for your safety. I dread to even think about what would happen if they found out that you'd been helping us."

I remembered how Zeke had spoken about him wanting them to hang me on the gallows. I gulped

"I love you more than life itself y/n. I couldn't bare it if any harm came to you. That why you need to leave. Go home. Find your friend and leave. Before it gets too dangerous here." Erwin's voice was full of concern for me.

"Erwin I'm not going anywhere! There's no way I-" I hadn't come all this way just to go right back AGAIN.

"That's an order." He stated coldly.

I pushed him back into the chair. About to stand up

"I'm not one of your scouts, Erwin. And you have no authority to order me around as if I am." My voice wobbled with tears.

"Please y/n I'm begging you." His eyes pleaded with me to listen. He kissed me softly pulling me back in.

"If you expect me to fight for them then you've got me all wrong. I won't ever fight against you or the people here that I care about but I also can't fight against them either." I spoke softer trying to calm myself.

After a few silent moment passed I spoke again.
" I guess there's only one thing for it. I'll have to do what I was trained to do. "

"Y/n." Erwin pleaded again.

"It's a compromise." I threw my hands up in exasperation.

"Fine. But you have to promise me you'll come back safe?" He furrowed his brows with concern.

"Pinky promise." I smiled sadly planting a kiss between his furrowed eyebrows. "Hopefully I can figure out a way to get messages to you. Maybe Hange has something up their sleeve. "

"I'm sure they do." I smiled through my tears. Erwin reached up to wipe a tear from my cheek before murmuring sadly
"I suppose this will be goo-"

"No. Don't say it." I cut him off sniffling. "We'll see each other soon. It will be like all this is just a really really bad dream."

"I'll see you soon then." He nodded to me pushing out a small smile.

"See you soon. I love you " I replied squeezing his hand tightly.

"I love you too" he pulled my hand to his mouth and kissed it gently.

Airships hummed in the distance as Pieck ran with me in her mouth back to Marley. I hated all this two and fro-ing. I just wanted to settle for once without being uprooted through my own stupidity or Marley's.

Pieck came screeching to a halt seeing naval ships heading for the docks.

I jumped out of her mouth wiping a bead of sweat from my forehead. It was like a sauna in there.
"We'll have to part here." Her growling titan-voice came out in a hushed whisper.

"Pieck. I owe you my life. Thank you " I praised the heavens for allowing me a friend like her.

"Anytime." Pieck popped up out of the top of her titan sliding off its already disintegrating body to meet me at ground level. "Pock said he'd cover for me so I should be able to slip right in with them once they arrive. You on the other hand. Well I hadn't really thought that far."

"It's fine. I got this." I blew a kiss to my best friend. Before wandering over to the troops emerging from the boats.

"McGath. What a surprise!" I exclaimed.

"Y/n. What the devil are you doing here?" He turned to me confusion on his face.

"My apologies sir. I came back to the docks to search for a brooch? My mother gave it to me and I must have lost it on my way back." I fake chuckled grinning. "Silly me."

"I see. There's not time to brief you now so just wait here for the warrior squad. You'll be assigned to them." He waved me away with his hand. I was too much for him clearly.

I nodded. Waiting for them to emerge. I locked eyes with Reiner and he jerked his head signaling for me to join them.

"What are you doing? We looked all over for you." Bertholdt asked

"Sorry. I was busy. What's going on?" I looked to Reiner for answers

"What does it look like? Everything we've worked for as kids has led us right here." He replied his hazel eyes dark and focused on the path ahead.

A tall lanky woman with a questionable blonde haircut walked past her arms outstretched to the airships above as they roared overhead.

Their hull doors opened and bombs began to rain down upon the open landscape ahead creating hundreds of blasts that illuminated the sky.

"Holy fuck. This is really bad." I whispered to myself. Reiner slung his arm around my shoulder.

"We should try and get to the lines as soon as" He stated calmly. How could he be so calm at a time like this? I suppose he was used to fighting.

"Y-yeah... Let's go." I nodded my feet planted firmly not allowing me to move

He released me and took off in a jog the other warriors in tow Pieck having joined them held out her hand to me but I was too dazed to take it.

My hands trembled as I began to continue walking. I eventually skipped into line with them as we got closer and followed with them towards the trenches carved by the bombing.
At some point someone handed me a helmet which I put on and we were given a post a little way back from the front line.

Even though we were good few miles out I could almost here the panic from inside the walls. I clenched my fists titling my head to crack my neck.

My whole life had come down to this. I wasn't going to let go of everything I'd worked to build by letting it be blown to smitherines.
