Erwin woke to the smell of cinnamon toast and maple syrup. The soft morning sun beams trailing lines across the room. He stretched wincing as his head twinged. Perhaps an old battlewound from long ago? He thought to himself.

Y/n walked through the door precariously carrying a tray of food where the smell had wafted from.

"Good morning, my love." Erwin smiled sitting up in bed to take the tray from    y/n. "Did you sleep well?"

"I slept fine." Y/N responded. "Lets eat." She sat down at the small table in the room as Erwin placed the tray down.

"This looks delicious" Erwin began to tuck into the food the flavours dancing on his tongue as if truly made with love.

Y/N sat quietly watching Erwin eat and not taking a single bite for herself.
"Here have some." Erwin picked up a delicious looking bite and offered the fork to y/n from her place across the room. But she simply shook her head her face growing pale. "Whats the matter, my love? Are you sick?" He asked concerned shifting to sit more upright in bed.

"Come. Eat something." He encouraged again. Y/n sniffed the air as if she hadnt smelt how delicious the breakfast she had made was. Or....

            WAIT

Was she....|

                    |crying?

Erwin quickly rose from bed and crossed the room. Kneeling to take y/ns hands in his. "My darling whats the matter?" He kissed her knuckles gently.

"This just doesnt feel real.... how can this be our life.... I never imagined it would come to this" She said softly through small sniffles.

"But arent you happy? This is a dream come true for both of us right?" Erwin felt confused. Did she not want to be with him?

" I am happy. I dont know why i'm crying sorry." She quickly wiped her tears and replaced them with a content smile so fast it was as if she had never begun to cry. Erwin felt uneasy. Something wasn't right here. Her face looked wrong her pupils and face began swirling.

"I...WHATS GOING ON!" Erwin yelled almost enraged with anger his vision fading of colour as the world around him continued to swirl like water poured onto a wet artists canvas.

"Erwin? Stay with me! Sit down sit down." Y/n rushed to make him sit down and in a mere few moments Erwins vision went black.

What felt like less than a minute later Erwin's vision returned almost as if he had just woken up. Although it was night time now. Erwin could smell candles burning but the room was dark.

"Y/n?" He whispered into the darkness straining his eyes to adjust. Y/n was seated next to the bed where Erwin was now lying sleeping with tear stained cheeks and a worried expression.

'Guess I passed out from the headache. I should take it easy' he thought to himself. As he shifted y/n began to stir. Rubbing her eyes and yawning.

"You're awake?" She asked. Blinking and stretching

"It seems so." Erwin smiled. "Sorry for worrying you." He shifted over in the bed to make space for y/n to climb in next to him. Resting her head against his strong chest as he stroked over her soft hair and down her smooth arm to soothe her back to sleep. He kissed the top of her head gently as he also drifted back into darkness.

A few days later y/n and Erwin had successfully packed up their belongings.  And were now journeying over to their new home together. After a carriage ride spent deep in discussion about how y/n planned to decorate each room they soon arrived at the path that led up to the thatched roof home.

Erwin pushed open the small gate at the end of the path and extended his arm for y/n to pass through. She giggled before joyously walking through grinning ear to ear. She jogged ahead spinning every couple of steps in pure excitement. She held her hand out to Erwin as they approached the front door together.

Erwin Smith stood at the doorway of their new home, the key poised between his fingers, catching the late morning light. The house stood proud and inviting, a testament to their hard work and dreams. Y/N stood beside him, her eyes wide with excitement and wonder. They exchanged a glance, a shared moment of disbelief and joy, before Erwin turned the key and pushed the door open.

The smell of freshly polished floors and new beginnings welcomed them as they stepped inside. Erwin's strong metal hand held Y/N's tighly, their fingers intertwining in a silent promise. Together, they moved through the rooms, their footsteps echoing in the empty space, filling it with the first whispers of their future.

"This is it," Erwin said, his voice a blend of awe and satisfaction. He looked around the living room, imagining the life they would build here. "Our home."

Y/N squeezed his hand, her eyes sparkling with tears of happiness. "I can't believe it. It's perfect."

Erwin smiled, a rare, unguarded smile that he reserved for moments like this with her. "Let's look around again, I know youre excited to explore." he said, leading her through the house.

They wandered through the kitchen, where they envisioned late-night dinner parties with their friends and early morning breakfasts. The countertops gleamed, waiting to be adorned with the messes and meals of their life together. Y/N ran her fingers along the cabinets, imagining the laughter and conversations that would fill this space.

In the bedroom, they paused, taking in the view from the window. The sun was setting, casting a golden glow over the landscape. Erwin pulled Y/N into his arms, holding her close as they watched the day end, the first of many sunsets they would share in this home.

"This is where we'll make our dreams come true," Y/N whispered, her voice filled with hope.

Erwin nodded, his chin resting on her head. "Yes. Together."

They moved on, each room a canvas for their future. In the spare bedroom, they saw potential for a nursery, a place for their family to grow. In the study, Erwin imagined late nights of work and quiet moments of reflection, Y/N by his side, her presence a constant source of strength and comfort. Despite stepping down as Commander he had decided to still remain as a helping hand. Not wishing to become bored with his new found freedom.

Back in the living room, they found the boxes they had travelled with had been set down. Erwin pulled one open, revealing a mix of practical items and sentimental treasures. He lifted out a frame that contained the first letter y_n had sent him along with the dried lavender. He placed it on the mantle, the first piece of their life to find a place in their new home.

Y/N watched him, her heart appearing full from her expression. "It's perfect," she said again, her voice barely a whisper.

Erwin turned to her, his blue eyes soft with emotion. "You make it perfect," he replied, his voice steady and sincere.

They spent the evening unpacking, each item finding its place, each box a step closer to making this house their home. They worked side by side, the task made light by their shared joy and excitement.

As night fell, they found themselves in the living room again, the last box emptied, the first day in their new home drawing to a close. Y/n sat on the floor, surrounded by the beginnings of their life together. Erwin pulled Y/N into his lap, where he sat in am armchair, wrapping his arms around her.

"We did it," he said, his voice filled with quiet pride.

Y/N leaned back against him. "We did."

They sat there, wrapped in each other, the future stretching out before them. The house around them was no longer just a structure of wood and stone; it was a vessel for their hopes, dreams, and love. It was the beginning of a new chapter, one they would write together, one day at a time.
