You sat on the roof of the hospital with Mikey, deep in thought as he conversed with you. "Why would Moebius want to kill Kenchin?"
"Hm... it seems that their bigger goal was to make Toman fall apart. The real question is why..." You leaned on your hand, letting your feet dangle from the roof, rhythmically tapping your ankles on the hospital's walls in thought.
The bigger question was what was it that Toman had that other gangs didn't. Who was the one behind all of it? "I did some research on Valhalla. It's a pretty large gang, full of juveniles, and definitely good fighters. They recruit members left and right."
Mikey glanced at you. "Yeah, I can tell that. But if they're so good, then why target Toman? We're still a pretty small gang, anyways."
"Do we know anyone in Moebius or Valhalla personally?" You suddenly shut your mouth. "Or... anyone of high authority...?"
"Not that I know of."
"Of course you don—" You cut yourself off and looked behind the two of you, Mikey doing the same. "Takemichi-kun."
He gave you a crooked smile and walked up. "H-Hey..."
Mikey stared at him for a moment. "Takemitchy... you already knew that everything that went down was going to happen. Long before everyone else. How did you know?"
A moment of awkward silence filled the air until you put your hand on Mikey's shoulder. "He told me that he overheard a conversation between Kiyomasa and the other guys in his little gang. I told him not to tell you so it wouldn't cause too much trouble."
You and Takemichi shared a moment of nonverbal conversation and you looked back at Mikey. "Sorry about that."
"Kenchin is okay. So there's no need to worry."
Then, you and Mikey held eye contact for a few seconds and then looked back at Takemichi. "Why does it say 'outlaw' across your crotch?" You asked.
Mikey began laughing as Takemichi began making all sorts of excuses as to why he was wearing such an absurd outfit.
You sighed with a smile and stood up. "In any case, we're glad that you were able to save Ken-chan. I don't think he would've been sitting there, alive, in that hospital if it weren't for you. So thanks."
Then you stepped back and stepped off the roof. Takemichi screamed and ran over to the edge, seeing you standing on the ground, looking down at your watch and sighing.
"W-What?"
"It's simple really. Land on that balcony over there, grab that sign, and swing down." Mikey chuckled. "But Y/N's probably the only one agile enough to do it first try without hurting herself. Let's just use the stairs."
The two came down and you glanced back at them. "Takemichi, can I talk to you for a second?"
He nodded and ran up to he was shoulder to shoulder with you. You saw from the side of your eye that Mikey walked back into the hospital and you looked at the ground.
"Really though, Takemichi. Thank you so much. I'm glad I had someone else to do this with me. Otherwise... I don't know, maybe I would've cracked."
Takemichi gave you a solemn look, knowing full well where this was going.
"I'm sure you'll want to go back to the present now, you know, since you probably saved Hina-chan and Akkun. You came back to the past to save them, didn't you?"
"R-Right." It was his turn to face the ground. "I'm glad you believe in me. And maybe we'll still be friends in the future?"
"Maybe." You giggled and held out your hand. "I'll need to go back to the present too, so... give me your hand."
