"Don't hurt her, she has nothing to do with this," I pleaded, my voice trembling as I stared at the man holding a gun to my side.

Lelani's eyes widened in fear, her breath hitching in her throat as she faced the barrel of his weapon. Her hands trembled, her own gun lowered as she realized the gravity of the situation.

"I'm not going to say it again—drop your weapon," he demanded, pressing the cold metal of the gun harder against my side. I tried to push against him, but his grip tightened.

Lelani's gaze flickered between us, her internal conflict written all over her face. She hesitated, her fingers flexing around the gun in her hand. I could see the fear in her eyes, torn between protecting me and surrendering to the reality that we were outmatched. Her grip finally loosened, and with a trembling hand, she slowly lowered her weapon to the floor, kicking it over to him. Her eyes never left mine.

"I'm not hurting anybody. I just prefer not to talk when guns are pointed at me," he said, his tone flat and devoid of emotion. "I told you I would answer your questions, and I'm a man of my word. I'm giving you five questions." He pushed me toward Lelani and bent down to pick up the gun she had kicked over.

"Why did you pull me away from the casino?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.

"You're supposed to be dead. Next question," he replied, his words hitting me like a punch to the gut. There was no emotion in his voice, just cold, hard truth.

"Who is Madam? And did she send you to kill me?" I pressed, needing to understand what we were up against.

"You might want to forget you ever heard that name," he warned, his voice dropping. "You think Stefan and his father were the worst? They're saints compared to Madam." He tucked the guns into the back of his waistband, his movements deliberate and controlled.

"Who is she?" I asked, the name sending a chill down my spine.

"She's the head of our organization. And no, she didn't send me to kill you—yet," he said, his eyes narrowing slightly.

"Then who wants me dead?" I asked, feeling my patience wearing thin.

"My brother," he answered, his tone flat.

"Why?" I demanded, frustration creeping into my voice.

"That's your last question," he reminded me, a smirk playing at the corner of his lips. "When my dumbass brother did what he did to you, he didn't know Elias was your husband. Once he found out, his next step was to have you taken out because you can ID him as one of your attackers. Once Madam finds out you're the reason Elias is now gunning for our family, he'll have to answer for that. So now that I've answered all your questions, I must go." He turned to leave, his footsteps echoing in the tense silence.

"Who was the woman in the video?" Lelani asked calmly, stopping him in his tracks. He turned back around slowly, a dangerous glint in his eyes.

"How do you know about the video?" he asked her, his voice laced with suspicion.
