"Enzo's been asking about you. Are we gonna talk about it?" I asked Lelani and she just looked at me
I tease her about it because I know he likes her and even though she tries to play it off I know she likes him too.
"I don't know what your talking about" she said, I can sense her discomfort, the way she tries to brush off the topic with a forced laugh.
"I know we haven't talked much because of my busy schedule" I said
"Yeah since you started helping Mr. Sexy at the gallery, you have no time to talk to me anymore" she said
"It's not like that, Elias has me covering some of Caesar's work"
"The fact that he made you steal from Elias and almost got you killed is beyond me" she said
"I know, Elias said he found him 2 weeks ago, but he hasn't said anything about him coming back." I said
"Enough about Caesar, let's talk about your new boo Kendrick" she said smirking
"He's not my boo we are just friends" I said
"If that's the case you wouldn't have asked Elias to run the gallery and you wouldn't be having me help you wrap up all these damn painting" she said moving the large canvas to the other side of the room
She's right I asked Elias to take over the gallery, he didn't think anything of it and Kendrick needed help with the grand opening since Caesar was gone. We have gotten closer in the process, it just nice to be around someone who gets me, who sees me for me. So I volunteered to wrap up some of the painting for the opening.
"Your coming to the opening right" I asked her
"About that-" she was cut off by the sound of banging on the front door
"Who's that"
"Are you expecting somebody?" She asked me and I shook my head no
"I'll get it" she said and pulled out a gun from her purse
"Where did you get that" I asked as we walked down the stairs and she motioned for me to be quiet, then she opened the door
I couldn't believe my eyes it was Caesar. He look like he been through hell and back. He shows up at the door with a black eye and a blood-stained t-shirt.
"Get that fucking gun out my face before I kill you" he said to Lelani
"I wish the fuck you would" Lelani said and I pulled her back trying to deescalate the situation. He pushes past us, limping upstairs.
"He lucky I didn't shoot his ass" she loudly making sure he could hear her comment from upstairs
"Thank you for coming over but I can handle it from here" I said walking her towards the door
