3 Days later

As I rushed into the hospital, my heart pounded with urgency. "Shanice, where is he?" I demanded, my voice edged with anxiety.

"He's been awake for a few hours," she replied, her tone calm.

"Why hasn't anyone told me?" I asked, frustration bubbling up.

"He didn't want to see you," she said, her words a heavy blow.

"He talked to you?" I asked, desperate for answers.

"I was dropping off Annalise and—" she began, but I cut her off.

"My daughter's here?" I asked, my voice rising.

"Yeah, um—"

"How does she even know about him?" I asked, incredulous.

"I told her," Cassandra said, stepping forward.

"You had no fucking right," I snapped at her, my anger flaring.

"Your daughter deserves to know, all of your children deserve to know. You don't even know where your oldest daughter is right now," she retorted.

"You should have let me tell them," I said, my voice shaking.

"You had weeks to talk," she shot back.

"Screw you," I said, pushing past her and marching to Ezra's room.

I entered the room to find Annalise sitting on Ezra's bed, laughing with him. They both stopped when they saw me.

"I'm sorry to interrupt," I said, trying to keep my composure.

"What are you doing here?" Ezra asked, his tone cold.

"I came to see you," I replied, my voice softening.

"I'm gonna tell you like I told my so-called sperm donor—I don't want you to see me," he said bluntly.

"I just wanted to see if you were okay," I said, my heart breaking.

"Okay? You're the reason I was shot. You lied to me about everything. I didn't even know I had sisters," he accused.

"He's right, Mom. How could you lie to us? This is why Lelani was avoiding you. She knew I was her sister. Did you tell her not to tell me?" Annalise asked, her voice filled with hurt.

"I wanted to tell you myself. It's just a lot was going on and—"

"I can't trust you anymore. I asked Auntie Cassie if I could stay with her, and she said yes," she interrupted.

"That's not gonna happen," I said firmly.

"It's already been decided," Cassandra said, stepping into the room.

"This is what you wanted all along, wasn't it?" I accused her.

"Athena, you got yourself into this mess," she replied coolly.
