"You gotta be kidding me, I'm already late to the opening" I said to myself, my heart pounding in my chest as the police car pulled up behind me. The sirens had been a dead giveaway, but I had expected to be targeted on the South District.

As the officer walked up, I could feel a coldness settle over me. This wasn't just about a traffic stop; it was about the power dynamics at play. I was Elias Moretti, a man who commanded respect and fear. I wasn't some innocent bystander to be browbeaten by a young cop with something to prove.

"I need to see some ID," he demanded, his tone sharp.

"Excuse me?" I replied, feigning surprise.

"Is that really necessary?"

"Don't play dumb with me, Step out the car" he snapped, his hand twitching towards his holster.

"I'm not going to ask again."With a controlled motion, I stepped out with my hands up , then I reached in my pocket for my wallet and pulled out my driver's license. As I handed it to him, I met his gaze, a silent challenge.

"Elias Moretti," he read aloud, his eyebrows rising. "The infamous Elias Moretti. What's a man like you doing down here?"

"Handling business," I said, my voice even. "Is that a crime now?" The officer's face hardened.

"We'll, I suggest you take your business elsewhere and don't come back around here no more. We don't want your kind around here."

A slow smile spread across my face.

"Your kind?" I echoed, my voice dripping with scorn. "Is that what they teaching you down at the academy now? That a man's reputation precedes him?"

"Is that a threat, Moretti?" he asked, his grip tightening on his gun.

"Just stating facts," I said, my smile widening. "You see, kid, a man's reputation doesn't come from his driver's license. It comes from the choices he makes, the people he hurts... and the ones he doesn't... I'll see you around Officer Williams"

"With that, I turned and walked back to my car, leaving the officer sputtering behind me. The South District was a battleground, and I was just getting started.
