"How is she?" Mina asked, waiting patiently outside your room as Ochako came out, carrying a few empty plates and cups from tonight's dinner that she had taken up for you.

Mina took half the load and watched closely as Ochako sighed, motioning to go down the hall before she began to speak.

"She's not great... It's been a few days without her medication and she's starting to kick into a heat. Her room is pretty trashed and she's curled up in her wolf form whimpering after lots of encouragement to eat."

"I can't imagine what she's going through..." Mina said softly, her heart aching for you.

Due to your unblocked scent, Mina hadn't been in contact with you since the day of the ice dome and it hurt her deeply that she couldn't be there for you right now...

"Maybe an Alpha scent will comfort her... I can sit with her and-" Ochako cut her off with a wave of her hand and a sad apologetic look.

"You can't. Seriously, it's not what you think. I've looked it up and it's not a good idea. She's not herself at all and a heat is something more complicated than craving the presence of an Alpha."

Mina pouted but nodded, glancing down the hall to your door before turning the corner to go down the staircase.

"I hope it's over quickly for her."

Inside your room was chaos.

Clothes, blankets, pillows and all sorts of personal objects were scattered haphazardly around in an impulsive need to redecorate a hundred times over.

To stop your hands from pulling the lights out of the ceiling, you transformed into your wolf form and sat by the window, watching the moon rise hour by hour while constantly fidgeting to try and get comfortable.

If Ochakos studies were to be believed, this was a pre-heat: an insistent need to get your den in order and find a mate ahead of your actual heat.

It was torture, and what was worse was knowing this was only the beginning of it all.

A low whine came from your throat as you watched the trees bend in the gentle breeze a few hundred meters outside your window. A lush thick forest was a view you were lucky to have from your dorm room and your paw gently scratched at the window frame longingly.

Maybe a run would help burn enough energy so you could sleep?

No, what if you ran into an Alpha out there?

It wasn't worth the risk...

A softer whine filled the room as you began to pace again, stepping over books and photos and socks that you had strewn everywhere.

Tidy. You had to tidy. This was all clutter and making you feel even worse, so just tidy! You told yourself over and over again in your head, but you couldn't bring yourself to transform back into your human form and begin...

Instead you jumped onto your bed and curled up tightly.

You were told Omegas were special things. Rare people. Treasured beyond the purest gold many years ago and treated as ethereal beings.

What bullshit.

Who would feel any of that when getting tortured by their own body and mind?

You rolled onto your back and stretched out closing your eyes and trying to relax, willing yourself to turn back into a human.

Slowly, almost reluctantly, your body melded back into your human self and you sighed deeply. The slow transformation had burned a little of your boundless energy and you felt a little more at peace.
