Katsuki watched as you effortlessly used your quirk to sniff out ball after ball, even carrying them out between your wolf jaws with extremely delicate precision just like a labrador with a duck egg.

The comparison in his mind almost made him smile if he wasn't still fuming.

Three minutes in and your group had recovered 19 balls, with more coming every few moments.

Damn show off... He grumbled internally, more angry at himself for doing so terribly. It wasn't his fault his team didn't listen and pissed him off!

A scraping sound of rubble made everyone gasp, a large piece tumbling down towards you with two balls balanced gently in your jaws.

With no time to run or react, you shoved your head down and tensed your form, making a sturdy frame with your back that took the impact of the sheet of rubble.

It hurt and you almost cried out but the sensation of the two glass objects in between your jaws kept them closed.

You had to be extra wary of not tensing them either... Glass in your gums didn't sound fun...

It was only an excersise, but you had to treat these glass balls like human lives... If you reacted selfishly to pain then you weren't cut out to be a rescue hero.

So you endured the tumbling debris that smacked against your back with no emotion, trying your best not to let the hits wobble your balance.

A few students gasped and winced, but you zoned them out. You had to protect the two 'lives' you held in your jaws.

Thankfully, it wasn't long before Sato rushed in to use his strength to support the unsteady tower, giving you space and time to bring the balls down to Shoji who nestled them in a cocoon of his arms while his other extensions created eyes and ears that poked through the rubble.

21 down... How many were in this thing?!

Looking up at the timer only gave you four more minutes to get as many out as possible...

Your teeth clenched as you snuck your nose in every crevice, thankful each ball did hold a unique scent that wasn't too difficult to locate...

You barked out as you found a small cluster in an awkward space and Tsu jumped over to curl her tongue inside while you got to work seeking more.

Your team worked flawlessly over the next few minutes but it still didn't feel like you had done enough by the time the tower collapsed...

"Time! 32 balls recovered, 8 destroyed from being left over. Team total is 24." Aizawa called and you shifted back to human form with a pout.

8 left. Just 8... You could have gotten them if you were quicker... Better...

Tsu suddenly patted your shoulder with a big smile, sensing your complete drop in mood.

"Hey, we did really well! Don't beat yourself up!"

Sato and Shoji nodded with enthusiasm, a thumb up in support but you couldn't bring yourself to smile.

"We had to treat those targets as lives... We wasn't able to save them all. We were so close, we could have done it."

Tsu sighed and nodded.

"You're right, if we treated this as a real scenario then it is tragic that we were unable to save them all...but-"

Her smile came back and you frowned softly. What could she possible be happy about?

"We did do better than most of the other teams. And we're still in training, so that's a great step forward in becoming pro rescue heroes!"

She had a point... You did better than average... But you still failed in your own opinion if you weren't able to save them all...
